Re: Week 4 OPR - All regionals and districts
Bongle,
Where did you get the data for Hawaii? The reason I have not posted this week is I was waiting for them to post the Hawaii regional standing. Without the total HP, BP, TP and CP, how did you calculate the OPR of those for Hawaii? I am posting Week 4 OPR without Hawaii at http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2174. The World Ranking has also been updated. The standings for Hawaii is missing so I cannot calculate the OPR for that event. When it is posted, I will post another file like last week. |
Re: Week 4 OPR - All regionals and districts
Just wondering what happened to us on the hybrid and teleop scores? 1056 hit 17/17 in hybrid for 10 points and I'm sure a few partners threw something in. We also only missed one shot (dunk) the entire tournament. You have us at 12th on the OPR but missing on the others. 28 points sounds about right for what we were putting in per match. Sorry we didn't qualify for worlds so we could show our dunker and wheelie bridge dropper. Should have listened to my partner, sorry Maui High, in that first match of semi's. Although Hawaii has the lowest average OPR, I think the top five could go up against anyone. Aloha

It has filters to rank by hybrid, bridge, teleop. and total. (Excluding Hawaii, even for the 'total') It includes multiple entries for teams that have competed at more than one regional. Feel free to change it up and add any functionalities. (i.e sort by regional, etc.) Once again, thanks to Bongle for his work on OPR over the years to make it very easy to use and comprehend. |

Re: Week 4 OPR - All regionals and districts
6 of the top 30 OPR performances of the season have been produced by Canadian teams.
All but one of those Canadian teams has qualified for STL, with only 3161 being on the outside looking in. 3161 was also the team which had a chance to snatch the #1 seed away from 1114 in their last match at Waterloo. They held the tiebreaker over 1114 with a higher Hybrid Points total. This is the match where it all happened, and also contains a "triple double" with all 6 robots balanced... http://youtu.be/uIdpZvfJDnE |
Re: Week 4 OPR - All regionals and districts
this makes no sense to me at all.....
my team only shot 1 ball at the competition and it missed so why are we in the top half of all of these lists?????? |

Re: Week 4 OPR - All regionals and districts
The only issue with using the average OPR is that is disregards changes made between competitions and leads to an inacurate ranking. I think ranking the OPR's from teams leatest event is a more accurate way to rank teams via OPR because it represents what teams are doing currently not in week 1 or 2. An example of this is 365, in week 2 at chestnut hill district they had an OPR of 21.2 ranking 82nd over all while week 4 at Lenape with a new shooter 365 had an OPR of 31.1 ranking 11th or using teams latest event's OPR ranking 7th.

Pretty sure Lavapicker means each hybrid period they scored 10 pts...
|
Re: Week 4 OPR - All regionals and districts
Yep, we drove up to the bumper in hybrid, lifted our arm pneumatically and used belts to spit out two balls into the middle goal 17/17 times. Only missed one shot the entire tournament which has to be close to a record too. Our whirling fingers of elastic tubing we extended to collect balls made us pretty effective at collecting balls too. We used pneumatics to wheelie up and over the bridge to drop it too. Very nice design that worked all tournament but alas, we'll not be at worlds to show it off. Even Lebron and Koby don't win it every year which gives us some solice.

I in no way want to demean any particular tournament. St. Louis is a great regional -- well-run and in a nice facility. The teams there were all fantastic; it's just that there were a higher percentge of teams that couldn't score. |

Cue Koko Ed... I'd love to know a way to determine elimination round OPR, but it's probably just as easy to post videos of the matches and say "Here, this is what we did". Go figure, I did that. We serendipitously "found something" in the semis and finals in Wisconsin, and I think our driver is eager to continue it. I'm very much looking forward to Queen City. :) |
Re: Week 4 OPR - All regionals and districts

Translated into English: elimination data provides no insight into which team on the alliance is doing the scoring. So you can't calculate OPR from that data alone. |

It's fairly clear how many we score in Wisconsin in the vids I posted elsewhere, even though the angle is blar. The webcast folks did say they hope to share an archive of the event footage at some point in the future. Can't wait for that! I guess the solution is for everyone to share more elimination round videos so we can see exactly how good teams are during crunch time! :) |
Re: Week 4 OPR - All regionals and districts
the spreadsheet says our overall OPRs are 17.67 and 17.04 but the week 3 thread says our OPR was 11.25 for portland, which is what OPRNet says... and the first post in this thread says our OPR was 23.37 for seattle, which is also what OPRNet says...
so why are the numbers all so different? we performed much better in seattle since we were working fully for most of our qualification matches, whereas in portland we were fully working only for our last 3 matches... so i can understand the 11.25 to 23.37 jump, but i don't see the minimal difference from 17.04 to 17.67... |
Re: Week 4 OPR - All regionals and districts
17.31 is the average of your OPRs from Seattle and Portland, and the overall OPRs it gives you are your average, roughly, plus or minus .315.

There is quite a bit of data pubilshed on CD already and they match each other perfectly. Everybody have access and choose the one that is more convenient for them to use. I like how you format your data, but please verify it before you publish so people are not confused. |

Re: Week 4 OPR - All regionals and districts
I have not seen the OPRs for Hawaii posted anywhere, so I am posting them here. This was calculated with just the qualification matches. I am working on an addition to The Blue Alliance that will calculate OPR automatically. The OPR data was generated using the code I wrote for TBA and match data from TBA. If someone can verify these OPRs, it would be much appreciated. :D

Toward that end, and given the unreliability of Twitter data, I invite everyone interested to review the Hawaii Qual match Twitter data and report errors here (based on videos or personal notes taken at the event). For example, the Twitter data has two tweets each for Qual Matches 8 and 16, each with different data: Code:

Re: Week 4 OPR - All regionals and districts
Those matches were replayed because the scoring system was not working for one of the alliances during those matches, as it was told to me by the refs when I asked.

In match 16, our alliance could not connect. Then, our opponents scores were not tallying. With those 2 fishy things happening on our side, a replay was allowed. |
