Can't wait to see how far teams like ours who have only competed once a couple of weeks ago (or more) drop:rolleyes:

Edit: Guess I know the answer now ;)

/old man rant

48 being listed as 15th is an absolute crime!

If they are not top ten too many of you are voting without watching video or doing proper research.

/ end old man rant

Gotta vote - I voted for you guys - prolific is too boring a word to describe your bot and drive team in the elims!

Free 2826! (and 2169, and 1592)

I love Mike and Justin's show but until people take their voting more seriously the ranking will continue to be a joke.

That is a pretty strong statement. I took my voting very serious and had 48 at #12. I would say, in my opinion, they could have gone anywhere between 10&15. (which puts them in the top 1% of FRC teams that have played i.e. of 100 random teams, they would likely be #1 or #2).

I was glad to see that 842, 2169, and 2826 at least got honorable mentions as I felt they were easily top 20, and possibly top 15 material (roughly where I had them). 1918 also got a nod putting them in that between 25&30 limbo spot which is right around where I would put them. If I didn't have so many Michigan teams already in my list, they would have likely gotten in (67, 469, 1023, and 548).

I was suprised to see 1477 so low. In my opinion, the 2 wins, against the competition they saw deserved at a minimum a top 15 slot.

118, 111, 33, and 71 should have been ranked lower in my opinion based off of the performances I have seen from those teams. I can understand why folks have them in their top 25 (obviously 33 was not in mine), but I think folks were voting more on potential this time than actual performance. I would have preferred for this crew to have rounded out the 20-25 slots.

While this might seem like a fair amount of discrepancy, keep in mind, almost 2,000 teams have played so far. Many of the top teams have played 2 times. Top 25 is essentially the top 1%. Statistically speaking, you are not likely to see one of these teams at a 40 team regional. In fact if you go to 2 40 team regionals, there is a reasonable chance you have not seen a top 1% team. 5 positions out of 2,000 is a 0.25% error.

good news is that, *if* the webcast is great, after Troy a lot of folks may have different opinions about 33, 67, 217, 469, 1718, 1918... :-)

It is common to regard others with a different opinion from your own as "not serious."

It's more the fact that it's basically just voting for teams with name recognition and/or cool promo videos. Anyone who watched Orlando could tell you that 1592 was the primary scoring bot on that alliance, not 233. Yet it was Pink that was ranked the next week. Pink's all the way up at 11th now, while 1592 remains outside of the honorable mentions. I know that 233 improved significantly in Boston, but the name recognition bonus that teams like they receive really ruins the credibility of these polls.

You see the same thing with teams like 118, 111, 148, 71, 33, 610, and 399. They're all either very well known teams or released nifty promo videos. They all did well. But there are teams that have unquestionably outperformed them ranked beneath them.

^^^^^ This right here. Totally agree. Id also like to mention how 2481 was #1 seed at Wisconsin amazing auto consistency and accurate teleop shooter, and no recognition from what Ive seen. Definitely motivates me to vote more often and get others to vote!

Yes. THIS is the solution.

//
We absolutely encourage discussion about the rankings! However, keep in mind that if you didnt vote, your vote maybe have been the change that you were looking for! There's a difference between discussing and complaining. Please don't complain about the rankings when you didn't vote, but please feel free to discuss your feelings!

Remember, the FRC Top 25 was created to be a fun place to talk about robots. If you're not having fun, then what's the point? We always say that all the teams in like in the top 10 could be interchangeable with each other. As far as teams that didn't make the list, all we can say is encourage people in your area to vote! They more people that vote, the better and more accurate the rankings could be!

To anyone worried about the accuracy of this poll, please remember that it is an opinion poll, and reflects only the opinions of those voting. It is purely subjective.

If you want an objective poll, OPR is one approach.

Meanwhile, the shows keep getting better and better.

I think there is some kind of balance that is needed. power house teams should probably be ranked higher than there robot performs are based on passed performance, potential, and the experience that they bring but there is also a place for amazing robots that don't have the same kind of pedigree. The solution is for people to post videos of matches and webcasts of good robots on Delphi so that people can actually watch these less known robots. one of the reasons pink was ranked after Orlando despite not being the main scoring robot on their alliance is it was very hard to find any videos of Orlando and no one can watch every webcast and every robot, especially weeks they compete so people assumed pink was the power team on the alliance. I have yet to find a good video of Orlando and 1592. another good example of this is MAR, i think MAR is very competitive and has a bunch or really good robots that no one outside the region knows about and yet only has 3 teams in the top 25 (and less next week because 365 will probably drop out because they are idle). I think and hope MAR championships opens a lot of people's eye's to how strong the region is.

Re: [FRCTop25.com] Week 4 Results Broadcast LIVE tonight!

I'm assuming they use a 25 points for first, 24 for second... and so on approach for the rankings. If this is true, a team could be ranked quite a bit, but if they're ranked in the 20s by everyone it'd take quite a few votes to even qualify for the honorable mentions.

FYI, here are videos of the Florida eliminations (which contain two MAR teams as a bonus ;) ).
