This can be solved by having multiple landing pages depending on who is accessing the site, www.usfirst.org for the general public, frc.usfirst.org for FRC people, ftc.usfirst.org, etc....

I changed it a bit to incorporate some of the ideas in this thread, and took a first stab at a mobile version.

I do really like the idea of having multiple landing pages.

I'm not sure I'm going to continue with this, since I have so many other things to do and this is so unlikely to happen. I had fun thinking about it though.

Its looks like FIRST is either taking our suggestions or separately realizing they needed to streamline their site. Anyone else think the landing page looks a little different?

Edit: Its not entirely different, especially past the homepage.
