Bill Miller

If you were at the Connecticut Regional, I hope you had a chance to talk to Bill Miller. Bill spent a lot of time in the pits looking at robots and talking to teams. He spent considerable time with 237 answering all questions that were put to him and listening to the comments from the team mentors. We talked about this years game and how it evolved, bumpers, FIRST Choice and the district model. Great conversation and great feedback.

We have all been asking for FIRST to be more open and to communicate better. What I experienced in Hartford showed that it is happening.

Thank you Bill.

I've got to agree. I've had a chance to talk with Bill Miller a couple of times over the years and never found him unapproachable. (That's not to say he's easy to get a hold of--when your badge says Emperor of FRC, you tend to get a LOT of people trying to talk to you. But that's part of the gig.)

Ihad a very similar experience with him. He talked with several members of 177 for at least an hour on Friday afternoon. I was really surprised how much he was willing to discuss in terms of FIRST operation, game design consideration and working with sponsors/donors.

I was also happy to hear that he goes to an event and stays all weekend to get the feel for it and see what goes on from begining to end. I had expected him to go to multiple events each week instead of focusing on one.

I can only echo the comments above. A reasonable guy, with a difficult job, who really cares about doing the right things for teams.

When I was a wee little freshman, our team put on a display for fFIRST and FRC at NI week and one day low and behold Bill Miller come's by, introduces him self (being a freshman I did not know who Bill was until he introduced himself then it clicked, You're the guy with the blog!) But meeting Bill as a freshman was a very good experience, he was very open to listen to ideas and comments and he also was asking us questions like "How can we make FRC better for next year?" and things like "What did you and what did you not, like about this year?". I was very pleased by this and how easy it was to talk him, needless to say he is very approachable and very easy to talk to!
