That's an...unfortunate mess...

But there's so much more to blame them for...

Re: "Blame the Programmers"

Yeah, that's a hardware problem. Definitely something to blame the electricals for. Programmers just work there.

Re: "Blame the Programmers"

Yeah, definitely electrical. I mean, the programmers will probably be called upon anyway to fix it, but only because they happen to be as good at electrical as programming.

Come to think of it, no one said that this wasn't a CAD workstation...

Re: "Blame the Programmers"

Although with desks so small, it would seem awkward to write in an engineering notebook at the same time. Probably spirit, then?

I think the programmers were set up by mechanical...

just a thought

I don't know who it work in your team, but my team have a
"control and program" sub-team that deal with both electronics and programming
therefore that is their problem ;-)

Re: "Blame the Programmers"

Our shop is a whole lot more messy than that programming setup - our programmers and CAD people keep things nice and neat. Mechanical on the other hand...we leave things everywhere.

I don't see anything wrong there.

Blame school administration - after all, it is their computer lab. Besides, this way, everybody on the team can keep working instead of cleaning up ;)

Two words
Cable managment.

Re: "Blame the Programmers"

This is clearly a hardware problem. Hence no amount of programmers can fix it.

Award coopertition points or attempt repair using fully autonomous?

Perhaps someone failed to understand the context of wireless?

Why are your outlets so dirty

Because if anybody tried to clean around them, the cords would jump out and strangle them. FACT: power cords are dangerous, opportunistic ambush predators.

"If you don't like the wiring situation, you should re-do it!" is exactly what you should say to anyone who doesn't like it.

Nonsense. One just needs to write code so good that the code fixes the physical wiring layout :p

I actually have seen similar cable management at my school (not quite to this extent, but still bad) and have responded by spontaneously re-routing all the cables in a more logical manner, like running the keyboard's cable OVER the back wall of the desk instead of under it so that when you slide out the drawer, the keyboard doesn't get pulled off (I've also done the same with the mouse about twice as often).

tl;dr: Try it, somebody might actually be willing.
