I have to say I enjoyed watching all the teams on this field. What an awesome field of teams. I wish our World Champions all the best next season!

Great to hear that the Galileo winners were able to take the big prize. I do have one question, though. Our team (766) was in Galileo this year, but my son and I didn't make the long trip to St. Louis. We followed the webcast for a while but had to attend another event when Einstein was played, so we missed getting to see it. I'm curious about this message from Jon Dudas that was sent out to all the teams today:
Thank you for your incredible enthusiasm and Gracious Professionalism throughout the year and at the Championship. We apologize for the technical problems that affected the final matches at our Championship. We will examine all of the facts, report our findings and ultimately solve any and all identified issues.
Can anyone tell me what the problems were?
Thanks all

There were communications problems during every match, including robots that did not move during entire matches. This should give you an idea: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=106034

Thanks, I glanced at this thread and I can understand why everyone was upset. Let's hope they come up with a better field design next year.

One other thing that was not said on here was our rookie team that finished 10th on Galileo and was highest rookie seed on Galileo and highest rookie seed overall on the 4 fields. The robot was built in 2 weeks and had no shooter, just a rolling chassis with a strong pneumatic bridge arm. ::safety::

Re: Galileo 2012!

Though Championships was fun and i am really happy that Galileo won, our team had an unfortunate time there. We had some more ball jamming problems. The drive was acting up again, which was discovered to be a blown Jaguar. Our shooter became less accurate, and not as strong (balls didn't go as far for how fast the wheel was spinning). We couldn't get the accurate shots we got from the fender in Queen City, or the accurate shots we got in Smoky Mountains from the Key. It was a shock to us that we went 4-5 and had only a few co-op points.

We were happy to see our alliance partners 234 and 3259 again. What great teams. They are some of the nicest people i have talked to. We were glad we got to balance once again with 3259, like we did to win the Smokey mountains regional when 234 was dead on the field.

Great Job Galileo!

I cant wait to see how our team does next year now :D Especially cause it will be my last year on the team as a student. :(

Did anyone notice 3173 in Galileo? Just wondering what people thought of arguably the most improved robot from their regional to the championships. We ended up as the 3rd ranked alliance captain and unfortunately lost in the 1st round of elims, but with the strong Galileo competition there really is no shame in that.

Re: Galileo 2012!

Was it any surprise that Galileo won another championship? We had been in the top eight in both our regionals and we didn't even come close to being a top alliance. It was amazing to see a 4th seeded alliance come out Galileo to win the whole thing. Congrats to 180, 25, and 16, for showing what classic teams can do!

Re: Galileo 2012!

As a senior, I can honestly say there was no better way to go out than how we did on Galileo this year. It was a BLAST!

First to 180, 25 and 16. That was an absolutely phenomenal alliance. 16 was an absolute steal, and I don't think anyone else realized their potential for defense. It was so frustrating to be playing with no balls on our side of the field. Great strategy. 180 and 25 were extremely consistent shooters. Amazing alliance. It is also fun being able to say that we beat the world champions in a match. :D

231 and 1714, it was a pleasure to work with you. The strategies that we played were perfect and the matches were probably some of the most exciting that have hit FIRST in a while. I think there were 3 matches that we won by only 1 point, and one was by a human player shot. Strategy was definitely key to our success. I bet we could have taken it to the next level if we had been able to practice the triple balance before the final match. We were sooooo close.

To the refs, great job all weekend, I had absolutely no complaints about the calls made.

To the queuing staff, sorry it took me so long to understand how it worked haha.

All in all, a great weekend, and I hope to have one more chance to drive that robot at IRI. :D

Re: Galileo 2012!

It was loads of fun to compete against 231,744, and 1714. Those two matches were probably the best our team has ever been in. With a one point loss in the first match, and a three point loss in the second it was a nail biter till the end.

Thanks to teams 3173, and 868 the elimination matches were fun, and I can't wait to play with you guys again soon.
