Re: Curie 2012!
StuyPulse is super pumped to be on Curie. It looks like a really great division that will have some really fun qualification matches and very interesting alliance selections.
We look forward to seeing some old friends and making some new ones. I think a big part of the Curie curse is that there doesn't seem to be any awesome chant for it like GALI-LEO. We should use this thread to come up with a good one. |
Re: Curie 2012!
I can say that 1507 will give all the teams at Curie a run for their money.
I fully expect to see them in the division finals. |

And the next poster types: Curie Using colors and font sizes of their choice. That's the chant for Madame Curie and the competitors on Curie. Because she's awesome like that! |

Re: Curie 2012!
I'm the driver from rookie team 3940, and I would like to introduce you to our high-performing robot and team.
At the Boilermaker Regional we won Rookie Inspiration, were the third overall pick, and were a finalist. At the Queen City Regional we were the 9th overall pick, received Rookie All-Star and won with teams 45 and 781. In order to win Queen City, we had to beat the number one alliance then the 1024-71-3494 alliance, then the 48-3193-1038 alliance. We would keep up with these high-performing teams in ball points and then beat them by balancing. We are a wide drive base, 22 inches long, perfect for being in the middle of a triple balance, which we did multiple times in the Queen City finals. We're getting much better at balancing, and are practicing a lot. Our shooter is very accurate, and flings the ball catapult-style, so the new balls in the finals don't affect us. In the finals at Queen City, we had an 88% shooting percentage, making 30 for 34 balls. We only shoot from the key and we aim for the top basket. We can shoot 2 for 2 in hybrid mode, and can even receive balls from another robot to shoot more. We have a strong bridge manipulator and have good traction on the bridge so we can push another robot as well as go on the bridge first to balance. Although we are only 22 inches long, we have never tipped over in a match since our CG is incredibly low, mainly due to about 20 pounds of added weights in our base. We have an all rookie drive team, including a rookie mentor coach, but we are prepared well by our other veteran mentors. Here's a link of one of our finals matches from Queen City. We are the tall purple robot on red alliance. We are excited to make new friends and have fun on Curie! |

Re: Curie 2012!
2914 is excited to be in such illustrious company, and we are looking to bring some hellacious D and bridge work to Curie. We spent the VCU regional chasing and sorting bugs, from bad CIMs to bad Jags, then rumbled through the DC regional to win it with the help of some good shooting robots.
Simple was our main design priority this year, and with four degrees of freedom we met that design criteria. A fast and consistent static bridge manipulator was the hardest feature for us to develop, but really defines our robot. Come stop by our pit, check out The Bubble, and say hi! See you in St Louis! Re: Curie 2012!
706 is pumped up for Championships and is glad to be on curie in the presence of such powerful teams. Our division will be the most competitive of all i think. 706 had shooting issues at our only regional, but with the issues resolved, we plan to give top teams a run for that first seed :D feel free to stop by our pits. Good Luck on Curie!

Re: Curie 2012!
Data mining is fun! (Or a problem if you ask my wife)
42 regional wins in Curie this year, from 31 teams. There were 132 participation in elimination alliances. 341 has a guady 64-5-1 record, but 987 went undefeated at two events for a 32-0 mark. Is there another team out there still undefeated? Repeats? We have 12 teams that paired up for regional wins. 192 and 3419 teamed up to win at Chesapeake 1985 and 1986 teamed up to win in St Louis 971 and 1678 won in Sacramento 624 and 1477 won Bayou 233 and 341 won in Boston 987 and 2844 won in Las Vegas 254 and 971 won Silicon Valley 1507 and 3951 won Finger Lakes Will any of these teams pair up again? 1319 has been close three times, advancing to the finals at Smoky Mountains, Palmetto and Peachtree but was unable to seal the deal and win. Will they break through in St Louis? Of the 14 rookies in Curie, 5 (3929, 3940, 3951, 4161, 4226) won a regional, a further 4 saw elimination action. Multiple wins 341 won Hatboro-Horsham, Chestnut Hill, MARC, Boston 233 won in Orlando and Boston 971 won SVR and Sacramento 987 won LA and Los Begas 1477 won Alamo and Bayou 1507 won Finger Lakes and Buckeye 1986 won St Louis and Greater Kansas City Wetzel |

Re: Curie 2012!
Hey Curie,
You guys are SUPER lucky..... You guys have probably one of the best FTA's on your field as your FTAA. He (along with the great field crew) was able to start MSC 12 min late and get it up to running 30 min ahead. So he took a break for Dean to speak, and still got the schedule to ended 2 min early. To bad his partner in crime can't make it..... MI teams don't forget to give him a hard time :-) |
