[EWCP] EWCPcast 4/22 and 4/23 Championship Preview

Now that Divisions are out, we're finalizing the details of our 2012 Championship Casts. For those of you that remember last year's cast, it was full of information and really long for those who didn't care about other divisions so we're trying something new.

On Sunday 4/22/12 We'll be doing the following Casts:
9:00PM - Archimedes Preview
9:45PM - Curie Preview

Then On Monday 4/23/12 We'll be doing:
9:00PM - Galileo Preview
9:45PM - Newton Preview

Each cast will be about 30-35 Minutes long and will be posted to our TS Page and other locations following the cast - we hope that breaking the Championship into 4 separate mini-casts will be a little easier on the ears than a single 2+ hour long mega cast.

As always, Times are EST and the call will be live on our TS Page: http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/98466

If anyone is willing to call in as an 'expert' on a division or two, please PM Andrew or I.

Saaahhhhwweeeett brah.
I am pumped to hear these casts. I like the new format better too.
You guys should make your picks and at the (idk if yall will do this) post champs cast, look back on your erroneous picks and then bow down to mine.

Should be good, I know yall have watched a ton of matches so your input will actually be pretty solid I assume. I am excited for it.

Okay Santosh, because we all know that you're All Knowing.... :P

I can't say that I've ever walked away from a Championship without thinking to myself 'Who would've called so and so to do as well as they did'. A retrospective would definitely be fun.

I can't wait! I like the new format.

I can see why you're putting Newton tomorrow. Saving the best for last. ;)

Instead of the "Talkshoe: Recorded Live", can you replace it with "LEEEEETS GET READY TO RUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMBLE"?

<Guest 13> 1114 was slightly ahead, but had 2 scoring robots, while 2056 was the only scoring robot on their alliance

Guest 31 has left the chat
<matt_FRCDesigns> Don't worry Justin. I will talk about that when I talk about Newton
<waldo1099> DISAGREE! our practice bot was extremely similar and helped us so much
<Guest 13> 973 makes as many shots as an above average team, but the miss more shots then most. If they get it fixed, they'll be among the top in the division
Guest 37 is logged into the chat
<XaulZan11> very similar to 2056, but key shooter. they caught fire during wisconsin elims
<Guest 25> 973 lost to $@#$@#$@#$@# good teams
<schreiaj> literally caught fire or just got really good?
<Guest 25> a lot of these good teams in arc won events without beating anybody
Guest 36 has left the chat
<schreiaj> I stand by my statements about 973, I watched them at CVR and was not impressed
<Guest 34> are they going in any order?
<wing1002> the order on the google doc
<Guest 34> or just randomly talking about teams?
<schreiaj> course, that prolly means they'll end up on einstein.
<waldo1099> GREATN ROBOT!!!! and nice team!!! there practice field was helpful and lent out to other teas

<wing1002> yea
<wing1002> their intake... OMG
<XaulZan11> I think every divsion winner will triple balance
<Mike1592> Do you see the winning alliance going for key+fender shooter or just build for average shooters that can triple?
<Guest 40> is 1114 good this year?
<jtemple> 1114 doesn't have off years
<Guest 40> i think key and fender
<wing1002> good? They're amazing
<Guest 27> yeah they are really good
<wing1002> nah, an 1114 off year is a year that they only win 1 regional

Guest 48 is logged into the chat
<Guest 40> deadly scorers will still be deadly scorers
<wing1002> I'd say the key shot will win
<Guest 25> 1647 is okay, but isn't decent enough to make elims
<wing1002> but fender shooters will still be deadly
Guest 49 is logged into the chat
<Guest 40> 1647 won't play in eliminations
<kellenhill1625> fender shooters are risky business unless you're talking 2056 caliber
<wing1002> yea
<XaulZan11> @kellen, and IF they both have 3 balls at the same time
<Mike1592> 190 does that same thing, gets the bridge almost immediately after hybrid starts
<wing1002> 2056, 2415, maybe 3476
<Guest 13> 67 makes 92% of coops, highest in the country
<wing1002> those teams will be good key shooters
<wing1002> or fender shooters rather
<Guest 40> 3476 is Code Orange right?
<wing1002> yea
<jtemple> thanks for the coop stat, 13
<kellenhill1625> if i get a choice in elims, i'm not gonna have three robots on my scoring end of the field

<XaulZan11> they*
<Guest 63> for the record safari works if any else is having trouble
<Guest 31> Very possibly
<Guest 45> yes, 971 was shooting mid because they had high goal consistency problems at regionals. They've really improved that post-SVR
<Guest 31> There are some strong wides, though
<Guest 31> Look at 1986
<Guest 31> All depends on seeding, really

<wing1002> yea, 1477 went down from alamo and bayou to lone star
<Guest 61> 1678 was first seed
<Guest 5> how the heck did you guys put 1986 as a wildcard?
<wing1002> nah 31, Archimedes
katiewiden is logged into the chat
<Guest 5> 1986 is a lock
<wing1002> 1986 won twice, but not at very strong events
<Guest 5> not a wild card
<Guest 31> Oh, I totally agree with you
<Guest 14> imo... 1986 should be top 5 of division
<XaulZan11> KC was surprisingly really solid
Guest 67 has left the chat
<Guest 31> By other three, I meant 1477's 3 regionals
<Guest 45> 1986 is definitely not a wild card, they're quite good
<Guest 45> I would say at least a tip, if not a lock
<wing1002> oh
<Guest 31> @45: YES
<Guest 4> 1986 is definitely a lock
<wing1002> haha
<Guest 5> yeah but you can say the same about 1477 they werent really at strong regionals
<schreiaj> We apparently disagree, we feel they could be really disruptive
<thefro526> I will explain why 1986 is a wildcard
<Guest 65> 1986 is really impressive. Especially with their new bridge mechanism that allows them to hang 17" of their robot off the bridge.
<Guest 14> why thank you dustin
<wing1002> 17"???!?!?
<wing1002> wow....
<Guest 31> 17"
<Hallry1676> yeah
Guest 56 has left the chat
<Hallry1676> crazy
<Guest 4> 1986 video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef3Ie2Qft8I
<Guest 65> sorry. 14"
<Guest 31> They have a mechanism that comes down off the bot that increases the amount of contact they have with the bridge
<Guest 65> but that's with a wide robot.
<XaulZan11> so only 11' on the bridge?!
<jtemple> guys, wildcard, for reference, does NOT mean worse than Lock or Tip
<wing1002> wow
Guest 63 has left the chat
<jtemple> it means they're a team who can shake up selections

<wing1002> i'd say wildcard is more like somewhere between a lock and a tip
<Guest 71> ,
<Guest 4> named after their teacher
<kellenhill1625> under 3 ft
<wing1002> not guaranteed, but not exactly inconsistent...
<kellenhill1625> we're gonna bring our shooting power
<wing1002> Pink!
Guest 73 is logged into the chat
<Guest 9> 836's issue on bridges only happened at DC and it was because the low gear in the transmission failed.
<schreiaj> I would honestly put wildcard as a more prestigious position, we all know that the locks are gonna be playing in the afternoon but we think that...
<MarcS> 233 is good.\
<schreiaj> ... wildcards will have a huge impact
<wing1002> yea
<Guest 71> 71?
<sportzkrazzy> florida
<kellenhill1625> 71 is similar yeah
<sportzkrazzy> every year
<IndySam> 71
<wing1002> I think Wildcards will be there in the afternoon
Guest 73 has left the chat
<sportzkrazzy> I love em
<wing1002> Locks are gauranteed top seeds pretty much
<wing1002> Wildcards are either top seed or close
<wing1002> and tips have potential
<Guest 5> I think you guys are bad at putting teams into the correct categories sometimes
<sportzkrazzy> you cant hate a team that dies that lol
<thefro526> Wildcard on this list means the team that has the most potential to jump
<thefro526> and do something crazy
<Guest 31> Anyone see any teams on the lock list (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XOaOhIxj1KHY57QdI7jUJnVBx6oCeJO626tXAhqsQ44/edit?pli=1#) that shouldn't be?
<wing1002> sounds like 2415...
<sportzkrazzy> they need a time laps of there robot build in the pits
<Baselthe2nd> I like 3098, but I wouldn't call them a lock..
<Guest 5> ^
<wing1002> hah Curie Curse
<Guest 71> curie never wins
<Guest 71> einstein
<MarcS> 2007 and 2010 defines the curie curse.
<wing1002> 2010 was so close....
<Guest 45> Up until 2008 Galileo never won either
<kellenhill1625> where is the list?
<Guest 4> Galileo never won unti 2008

Guest 32 has left the chat
<Guest 31> Not a secret anymore
<Hallry1676> yep, we played with them then
<thefro526> If everyone goes wow
<wing1002> is that the same case with 2415 at archimedes?
<thefro526> that means that they were suprised
<thefro526> thus wildcard
<wing1002> 341 top seed!
<Guest 31> Hahaha, fair enough, @thefro
<sportzkrazzy> 233 is great at coop
<Guest 71> 971 will be second pick
<Guest 4> 1986 is more well known then 1507 and 624
<sportzkrazzy> they seeded crazy high in Florida because of it
<wing1002> sort of like what 1771 did on Galileo last year.
Guest 64 has left the chat
<Guest 8> how is coop found for divisions?
<Guest 5> who is the best bridge bot in Curie?
<Guest 71> 341
<Guest 71> they don't have to limit their picking to including a wide bot
<sportzkrazzy> you think we will see two longs trip. at champs?
<Guest 31> Yes
<wing1002> yea
<Guest 71> yes
<sportzkrazzy> how long will it take?
<thefro526> Long/Wide/Long will happen
<Baselthe2nd> Almost certain there'll be attempts
<Guest 71> depends on alliance
<thefro526> but it's going to take time
<thefro526> and practice
<sportzkrazzy> idk
<Guest 71> 254 and 971 did it in about 6 seconds
<wing1002> practice fields at CMP will be crowded
<sportzkrazzy> how many teams will risk it
<sportzkrazzy> ?
<Guest 71> but they practice together
<Guest 4> 341 won't be able to do it as fast without 25 on the other end
<wing1002> the 8 seed teams may risk it
<Guest 44> it will be VERY hard to practice/evaluate triples iwth how the practice fields are setup
<Guest 31> If it means the difference between a win and loss, I would imagine many will
<thefro526> there are plenty of teams with brakes, Guest 4
<Guest 31> May not be important enough until elims
Guest 19 has left the chat
<Guest 4> 25 has a long history with brakes. Saying that many teams has brakes is the pit scouting fallacy
<Guest 71> brakes are important
<Guest 71> they let teams balance later
<Guest 31> 1477 has brakes
jtemple has hung up
<thefro526> Guest 4, who are you?
<thefro526> You seem to enjoy pointing out faults
<wing1002> >.<
<sportzkrazzy> I really dont see 2 longs being able to keep up score wise with the time difference involved in the balance
<Guest 71> does 987 have breaks?

<Guest 71> deaf people
<Guest 5> lol
<Guest 31> I want to ask again because it got a little lost when the "Curie Curse" came up:
<Guest 31> Anyone see any teams on the lock list (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XOaOhIxj1KHY57QdI7jUJnVBx6oCeJO626tXAhqsQ44/edit?pli=1#) that shouldn't be?
<Guest 71> 341 if they aren't the first picking team, they will be the first picked
<Guest 71> cause they are wide
<sportzkrazzy> can wlw beat wll on Einstein?
<sportzkrazzy> other way around sorry
<wing1002> that's interesting
<wing1002> it depends on hybrid
<wing1002> who gets to the middle bridge first
<XaulZan11> on galileo, 2054 and 3322 are very good, but more of tips, I feel
<schreiaj> we'll talk Galileo tomorrow
<XaulZan11> and maybe 180 and 399, but I haven't seen enough of them
<Guest 8> cant get to the practice field

<SuperNerd256> 973 + 1717 would have won it. Two of the best swerves I've seen.
<Leeland1126> Does anyone else think 1323's robot is a little over complicated? A turret on a lift, right?
<Bryan33> Anyone else?
<tombot> 1717 and a rock would have won

<matt_FRCDesigns> @Leeland you have a swerve and a turret
<Meredith16> 2054 looked good at MSC. They have a big hook stinger.
<jwfoss> i dont think the turret was needed
<matt_FRCDesigns> Hey Colin!
<jtemple> 2054 REALLY reminds me of oldschool Team 60 robots. Dat powder coat <3
<stevend223> IMO whether a turret is needed or not depends on the drivetrain/drivers

<jwfoss> and 8wd without a turret and a camera does just fine
<SuperNerd256> Turrets were useful in 2009 because the targets were moving. Now, the baskets are stationary and moving the robot is enough to score well.
<Guest 13> 1918 won 2010 MSC ...
<Guest 57> to not win champs i think
<Guest 56> 1718
<SuperNerd256> It would be like having a turreted elevator last year to hang the tubes.
<jwfoss> dumping robots were king of 2009 not turrets
Guest 67 has left the chat
<SuperNerd256> Exactly
<Leeland1126> That's what I'm saying. If your robot can turn well enough, you don't need a turret. If you can't turn well, it would help.
<Guest 13> oops -- 1718 ...
<Bryan33> In regards to ball pinch, we basically found the amount of pinch where the ball's compression functions crossed (they arn't linear.)
<SuperNerd256> If your robot is having trouble turning, you may need to work on things other than a turret. :P
<jwfoss> ^exactly
<Leeland1126> Definitely. I'm just saying, there are circumstances where a turret would or would not help majorly.

<Guest 42> pyeung, wont happen
<Guest 56> Pwn?

<GabeSalas> granted, how many of those points are from hybrid?
<Guest 25> only at IRI
<Guest 39> Kind of quoting Adam Freeman: 1717 can drive, and they can be wide, therefore they can triple.
<wing1002> practice
<Leeland1126> Once 1717 triples, then we can talk about them against HOT or 2056 or 341, etc. Until then, they have a lot to prove.
<wing1002> if they haven't done it in regulation yet
<Guest 56> Like a king
<wing1002> it will take time to adjust
<Guest 56> But not
<SuperNerd256> We tried playing defense against them: It did not work (and we play a good D)
<Leeland1126> Theoretical assumptions don't do it for me. No offense to the 1717 members on here in this cast.
<TheLucas365> they can be a sandwich in any triple

<SuperNerd256> @Leland 1717 has never had the need to triple to win. We'll see it at champs.
<Guest 23> ball starvation
<pyeung45> starve them
<wing1002> 1717 shouldn't be the sandwich meat if they are wide
<Guest 53> Well do you have Mecanums for defense? If not you might as well give up.
<ross1717> in elims, a lot of their alliance members had com-issues, not giving them the chance to triple-balance.
<SuperNerd256> We starve...they go to the other side to get their balls back.
<Bryan33> Starve them of balls, force them to go to the other side to get them.
<wing1002> lol mecanum troll
<Leeland1126> Champs is a totally different game from regionals.
<Guest 23> lol @53
<pyeung45> block the bumb
<pyeung45> *bump
<SuperNerd256> They're too fast.
<Guest 55> my favorite alliance would probably be 113 as the lead, 4112 as the second pick due to their amazing ball pick up and lastly, 889 because their drivet
<Guest 39> They can be defended, but they're fast.
<SuperNerd256> They are really fast, and really maneuverable.
<Guest 42> l0l
<Guest 56> lol @53
<SuperNerd256> Although they do have 1 weakness people found.
<Bryan33> Thats not really defense..
<Guest 44> mecanums are obviously the best!! what are you guys thinking??
<Guest 42> being too fast?
<Guest 42> what?
<ross1717> @supernerd, what's the weakness?
<Guest 58> agree with 44
<Guest 62> pin them with 4ft per second 1st gear?
<Guest 55> macanums are dumb they have too much traction
<wing1002> guys, i do love the mecanum trolling
tombottiglieri is on the call
<Guest 40> they drive the swerve to well to get cornered
<Guest 56> Agree with 58 who agrees with 44
<wing1002> but you guys are giving me bad memories
<SuperNerd256> Your DT doesn't have the best traction. One practice match we pushed you out of shooting position and until you pushed back we controlled you.
<wing1002> because my team used mecanums, against my will
<Guest 2> 1241 played mad defence
<wing1002> and they paid the price...
AReed_48 has left the chat
<ross1717> yeah I think the swerve is better at avoiding than pushing

<Guest 39> Square before it was cool.
<Bryan33> Their square
<JacobP79> square
<Guest 25> 469 -- it's hip to be square
<SuperNerd256> It's all driver practice, but so far IF you ever get a pin, you've got them down.

<Bryan33> It's fast

<wing1002> but are the as good without 67?
<pyeung45> it they touch it it is theirs
<Guest 9> it works well though
<Guest 44> 111!!!! best team no question!!!
<Guest 55> 56 what are you trying to say?
<Guest 53> They look knid of ghetto for a power house robot.
<TheLucas365> does 469 have a coop bridge auto?
<Guest 29> 469 won the Detroit district without 67
<Leeland1126> 469 beat 67 twice at MSC, if I heard correctly.
<Bryan33> They carried dead 67 to win MSC.
<Guest 39> 1023 is good
<Guest 56> I'm sayin' you crazy

<Bryan33> true fact
<Guest 25> and 67 beat 469 at waterford by 1 point
<Guest 39> by penalty*
<TheLucas365> 330 and 548 should fence each other

<Guest 9> 469 DID beat 67
<ross1717> @talker. So true
<wing1002> remember at MSC the alliance partners are also in the game
<Guest 56> @18: explain
<wing1002> at MSC the alliance partners make the difference
<Guest 53> Fender is so much more reliable though.
<wing1002> dude
<Leeland1126> I thought of the 548 design at the start of the season. Wrote it off as being too complicated and slow. Hindsight is 20/20, huh?
<Guest 18> being able to shoot from the key is more advantageous than from the fender
<Guest 46> they also tripled with 2054 which is a long bot
<Guest 18> *if you can do it well
<Guest 42> lol
<Guest 42> skunkworks
<pyeung45> lol
<Guest 58> @18: explain more
<Guest 29> #suckworks
<Guest 40> They nail every shot they take
<wing1002> unless you're 2056 and are dialed in as soon as you hit the fender, fender shooters will not be effective against defense
<SuperNerd256> #suckworks
<pyeung45> ^

<Guest 18> @58, you can't defend against the key... and you're closer to the middle of the field, making it faster to collect more balls
<SuperNerd256> It's a joke about their name and an FRC Top 25 cast
<NawaidLadak> wern't they seeded #1 at all three events?
<Guest 18> fender is too unreliable with defense
<TheLucas365> its a typo gone haywire

<Guest 56> @55: YES
<Guest 58> agreed
<Guest 56> Have you gotten up close to see it?!
<Leeland1126> 118's consistent improvement this year has been astounding. From no longer having a balancing device to being one of the best all around robots.
<Guest 55> van gough on the robot
<Guest 9> so, actuality, how good is 469?
<Guest 42> 330 is stubborn

<SuperNerd256> 330 is just plain awesome.
<Guest 56> Ridiculous
<Bryan33> @9: they have lost 3 matches playing in michigan.. pretty good.
<Guest 39> Experience with 1717? Could be repeated?
<Guest 62> they can score many balls in the two minutes
<Guest 55> but 118 got sooooo lucky in finals at lonestar when the other robot got disabled...
<Guest 62> 12-15

<SuperNerd256> I met their driver. He is a little kid! But still an awesome guy.

<Guest 18> 330's drive coach was the best driver in the history of first IMO (Shane)
<wing1002> they had skill
<Guest 53> I like their paint scheme.
<thefro526> 548's key shot is why they're ranked over 330
<SabreBytes772> dont know if anyone else noticed this but pit maps are out

<wing1002> not necessarily 55
<wing1002> 624 was good as well
<Guest 58> 624 carried 1477

<Bryan33> I believe 111 does.
<wing1002> no of course not
<SuperNerd256> Has 111 won the most championship titles?
<wing1002> no
<wing1002> 71

<Guest 39> 111 done any triples?
<Justin340> maybe not better then 118
<jtemple> 71 has 4. 67 and 111 have 3
<SuperNerd256> How many has 71 won?
<wing1002> really?
<Guest 29> 71 has 4 championship wins, 67 and 111 have 3
<Justin340> but not overrated
<wing1002> perhaps
<TheLucas365> can 842 score consistently from key?
<pyeung45> 71 should have 5...darn 2007
<Guest 56> 1477 isn't even on this field
<wing1002> 1477's adjusted OPR (the one that you can actually compare to other regionals) is not as high as others..
<wing1002> i think 1477 came up when someone said 118 was overrated and 1477 was better

GabeSalas has left the chat
<Guest 55> key shooting is more efficiant if they are dialed in
GabeSalas is logged into the chat
<SabreBytes772> our robot is originally a key shooter. We slowed down the shooter for fender shots. if we need to change i press a button and we shoot from key
<Guest 56> Fender shot = death
<wing1002> isnt' adjusted OPR taking into account the competitiveness of the regional?
<Guest 55> efficient*
<GabeSalas> is there any audio?
Guest 77 is logged into the chat
<Leeland1126> Bots from the fender need to be VERY wary of defense. Regional defense is usually nothing to champ defense.
<rsisk101> They shoot from the side of the fender which is unique
<rsisk101> 842 does
<TheLucas365> not totally, the graph between all regional is not well connected
<Guest 29> adjusted OPR only takes into account co-op balancing. It doesn't adjust for regional strength or anything else
<schreiaj> OPR isn't a useful metric because the sum of the teams in an alliance is != their actual scoring capability because of the tactical complexity of this
<thefro526> Gabe, if you're missing audio trying refreshing
<Baselthe2nd> Adjusted OPR takes into account the Coop Bridge. It just adds points for teams' coop points

<SuperNerd256> Halved, not doubled.
<Guest 46> 469
<wing1002> 1717
<Justin340> No wins, decent shooter
Guest 79 has left the chat
<Guest 18> haha isn't this whole game a shooting game?
Guest 78 has left the chat
<Guest 55> so 469 or 1717?
Guest 80 is logged into the chat
<wing1002> BOTH
<Guest 18> all the best robots can balance. the difference will be in the shooting
<Guest 46> no its more of a bridge game
<Guest 25> except for the detail of the coop bridge ...
<Guest 56> 469
<wing1002> unless someone else gets to first seed
<TheLucas365> I think 222 is adding a speed sensor
<Guest 55> which one?!?!?
<wing1002> then... look out for the "scorched Earth"
<Guest 56> 469
<wing1002> 469
Guest 68 has left the chat
<Guest 56> Actually, scratch that

<wing1002> 67
<TheLucas365> they were operating w/o speed control
<SuperNerd256> Is "scorched Earth" a simple feeding and starvation tactic?
<wing1002> no
<wing1002> that's an alliance selection tactic
<Guest 18> if 330/548 wins #1 seed, who do they pick? does that robot accept?
<wing1002> you make al top 8 seeds decline you
<Guest 56> 469
<SuperNerd256> Oh, I get it now.
<wing1002> then no uber alliances can be picked
<wing1002> and it's fair game
<jtemple> SuperNerd, See Newton 06 for Scorched Earth
<SabreBytes772> woot woot!!!!
<Guest 53> I like how 610 looks.
<Guest 2> love 610
<Guest 39> Why do people think scorched earth is more likely here than other divisions
<Guest 42> if 548 gets #1, they will pick 469
<Guest 42> if 330 gets #1, they will pick 1717
<wing1002> the strength of the division
<Baselthe2nd> 548 is so good at balancing, can hang so far off, no teams will have qualms about tripling with them. I could see 1717 or 469 accepting.
<Guest 62> 300 gets #1 you go with them
<Guest 39> 548's third best no doubt
<SuperNerd256> I wonder how 1717 would be if they had two feeder bots on the other side, and they were the sole scorer. A possible strategy?
GabeSalas has left the chat
<wing1002> if 469 or 1717 doesn't get first seed, you can get some uber alliances in the top 8
<Guest 39> Not if the other bots can score
<Baselthe2nd> Additionally, they aren't going to just pick 469 because Michigan. They'll pick the best team.
<Guest 2> gtr east was intense
<wing1002> so thats why i think the scorched earth would work
<SabreBytes772> sooooo close!
<Guest 62> 1717 can put up more than 20 balls
<Guest 25> 5 robots is pretty crowded in any end of the field
GabeSalas is logged into the chat
<Leeland1126> In all honesty, if that were the case Supernerd, they'd probably get robbed of ballsd.
<Leeland1126> *balls

<Guest 39> 469 can put up the balls they can pick up, 1717 the same
GabeSalas is logged into the chat
<Guest 25> they have to get 20 balls to put up -- that's what a lot of the starvation discussion is about
<wing1002> yea...
<Guest 18> @39, so who picks up more balls then?
<SuperNerd256> They can collect so fast and score so fast that even if the opponents start taking them back they'll have to fight for balls.
<wing1002> that's the general feel of FRC vets
<JacobP79> T3
<wing1002> mecanum wheels are DERP
<Guest 55> starvation?
<Guest 39> They both get all that are available is my guess.
<Guest 29> no time limit for the best division
<Guest 53> a dumper?
<Leeland1126> Haha Matt takes over here
<SuperNerd256> I just know it got to a point at CVR where in some matches 1717 had to scavenge for balls when they shouldn't have needed to.
Guest 83 is logged into the chat
<Guest 62> if there are no balls then nobody is scoring
<Guest 39> ^
<Leeland1126> 340 can play pretty much every aspect of this game right now.
<jtemple> ...except 3 pointers
<jtemple> :P
<JacobP79> One of the best 2 point bots in this game
<Guest 46> i love all the long bots talking about how far they can hang off the bridge
<rsisk101> you need defensive robots that know how to scoop up balls and get tehem over to the shooters
<Guest 55> 3>2
<Leeland1126> 3*2 = 2*3
<rsisk101> math is hard
<Guest 42> 3*3 > 2*3
<wing1002> math is easy
<matt_FRCDesigns> How did I do Justin?
<Leeland1126> 3*3 is harder than 2*3
<matt_FRCDesigns>
<Guest 55> 3*3 > 2*3
<Guest 39> Not from the fender
<JacobP79> Andrew, take over here
<Guest 25> 3*2*1 = 3+2+1 ?
<Leeland1126> Depends on the shooter.

<Justin340> I hope we can bring it

<Leeland1126> I'll defend 340 to the end Justin
<Guest 42> 426652356 > 23414
<matt_FRCDesigns> you can and will. have my number on speedial in case
<wing1002> yes, we get it
<Justin340> hahaha thanks Leeland
<wing1002> i can do math too

<Guest 56> Math is hard
<Guest 42> ^
<schreiaj> congrats you all can do math...
<Guest 55> math are hard*
<Guest 56> SO much math
<Guest 53> Math is SO hard.
<SuperNerd256> Do the math, save the world.
<Guest 56> At LEAST 10 math
<Guest 42> 2+2=5
<Guest 46> they have a 67 inspired stinger
<Guest 42> 4x4=12
<Baselthe2nd> My Calc class finished last week, so I forgot all math
<Guest 25> 2834 has a solid auto
<Leeland1126> this is NOT 1984
<Guest 55> at least 7!
<Justin340> This chat has taken on a life of its own
<Guest 53> No it's 4 but you were so close
<Guest 25> have shown solid shooting
<Bryan33> 2834: Very good shooter, very smart, a little rough on balancing.
<wing1002> my calc class finishes on april 30th
<wing1002> Good old Line Integrals and Green's Theorem
<Guest 25> have shown sketchy bridge manipulation
<Guest 25> and are tall
<nahstobor> buzzzzz
<Guest 56> Tall = bridge horrors
<Baselthe2nd> 2834, when undefended, score score score and score more
<Guest 55> love carnage
<wing1002> it depends on weight
<Baselthe2nd> But when defended, have issues
<Guest 55> on the bridge
<wing1002> even if you are tall, you can balance well
<wing1002> 2415 can double in about 3 seconds and they are at the height limit
IndySam has left the chat
<thefro526> It's about CG, not height
<Guest 25> height limit isn't the issue, it's where the weight is
<wing1002> yea
<Baselthe2nd> I've seen 2834 hit a dozen out of a dozen shots in a match
<wing1002> which is what i'm saying
<Guest 55> more about height
<Guest 25> they fell several times at msc
<Guest 53> Yeah band 2834 look really top heavy.
<nahstobor> It's about will and want, not CG or Height
<Guest 56> Carnage on the bridge gets the crowd going
<Guest 56> And heaven knows robotics competitions can use that
<Guest 55> CARNAGE!
<wing1002> nah, i dont like bridge carnage
<wing1002> double triples are cooler
<SuperNerd256> Sparx brainwashing.
<Guest 29> Does anyone have a picture of 191?
<Guest 56> CG and height play a big role in what's within one's means...
<GabeSalas> Baselthe2nd - you can say the same with most teams when playing defensively
Guest 84 is logged into the chat
<Guest 42> i feel bad about cackling maniacally whenever a robot tips over
Guest 44 has left the chat
<Guest 42> sorry, i can't help it
<Guest 55> i like it when robots on both ends flip
<Guest 53> Luckily I haven't seen any major problems resulting from bridge carnage.

<Baselthe2nd> Based on the scouting I've done, no, I really can't. Lots of teams miss open shots. 2834 doesn't.
<nahstobor> link doesn't work
<nahstobor> guest 83

<Guest 56>
<Leeland1126> Yeah, we're up there.
<TheLucas365> change in shooter sprockets
<Guest 56> :P
<Guest 55>
<Guest 56> XD
<Guest 55>
<matt_FRCDesigns> @Leeland did I give a good overview?
<Leeland1126> Yeah, you covered the robot really well!
<Guest 81> 2122=sleeper?
<Guest 53> Leeland, are the bridges really challenging for you guys?
<Guest 25> like real estate -- schedule schedule schedule ...
<Guest 25> 38 w 62l ?
<Leeland1126> They were really bad for us at FLR
<TheLucas365> 26 wide in gdoc
<wing1002> Scorched Earth might be seen during alliance selections (i'm a broken record)
<Guest 42> 26 wide
<Guest 42> 43 long
<Leeland1126> But we haven't fallen over yet
<grimtuesday> 1717 seeds first, 469 rejects, 469 chooses 610, 1717 chooses 548 and wins the division
<TheLucas365> not complete info
<Guest 73> 1983 is square
<Guest 73> squareish
<Guest 53> Well that's fortunate.
<Guest 56> 2 wide + 1 long vs. 2long + 1 wide
<Guest 62> 469 rejects?
<Guest 56> Thoughts?
<Guest 25> no way ...
<grimtuesday> does 1717 have a stinger now?
<Guest 56> Opinions?
<Bryan33> 469 would never reject that
<Guest 18> @grim. you crazy
<Leeland1126> We're making some major changes for champs, so we're hoping things will work out better.
<Baselthe2nd> Why would 469 reject 1717?
<Guest 81> triples can be defended
<Guest 3> why would 469 reject
<wing1002> 469 would have to be insane to do that
Guest 55 is on the call
<Guest 42> pretty much
<grimtuesday> 469 has rarely been the primary balancer in the alliance
<schreiaj> if they think they can build a better alliance without them?
<Guest 56> @81: and?
<Guest 25> have to have been smoking their bananas
<Guest 29> Anyone in the division have a ball off the co-op bridge auto?
<Guest 62> 469 can be the last one on watch michigan
<Baselthe2nd> Andrew, based on current info, that's extremely unlikely
<schreiaj> I agree
<Guest 25> ah 469 did the triples with 1023 at detroit
<grimtuesday> true
<schreiaj> But this is CMP, stranger things have happened
<Guest 25> and half of them at msc, 67 the other half
<Baselthe2nd> Just making sure.. I've heard some weird things from people recently
<GabeSalas> the issue with out scoring, between two robots to score an additional 7 balls within 30 seconds is tough but manageable
<Baselthe2nd> True
<TheLucas365> tough to practice triple on practice feild?
<Guest 3> 548 needs like 18 inches on the bridge
<Guest 18> haha i haven't seen anything stranger than 469 rejecting 1717 as #1 seed
<Leeland1126> If 1717 seeds first, they will have their invitation accepted. Not because 469 thinks they could build a better alliance, but to face 1717 is dangerou
<Guest 40> 1983 is short (32") and can hang a lot off the bridge too
<Guest 39> less than wide bot
<SuperNerd256> I can see a feeder bot just duking them out in the last 30 seconds as the opponents balance, 1717 scoring at least 7, and feeder ends with a 2Balananc
<Guest 29> no love for the PNW: 1540, 2122
Guest 55 has hung up
<grimtuesday> where will you guys be?
jbarry987 has left the chat
<NawaidLadak> will there be another "general" cast with picks and other cool stuff like that?
<wing1002> autographs? :P
<Baselthe2nd> 548 can definitely balance with another suitable longbot. We balanced with them in a practice match at MSC.
<SuperNerd256> 'night!
<Baselthe2nd> triple balance, that is*
<Bryan33> Feel free to stop by 33's pits
<jtemple> Grim, we'll be...everywhere, lol
