You guys are right. I just wished that every Alliance had a fair shot at winning, as far as the field was concerned.

Keep IRI as IRI.

To answer a few questions -

Any team is invited and encouraged to apply.

The event is free, open to the public, and a great event to attend even if your team is not competing. The atmosphere is fun and competitive. Teams are more relaxed in the pits and it is easy to see designes and talk with teams about their robots.

We don't know about a MAR / FiM playoff. Not discussed yet.

We WILL NOT replay Einstein.

Good choice. Consider the playoffs, but there is no reason to cause more drama on the Einstein subject.

I don't know about Galileo, but on Newton, we were given our triple balance practice time. All we had to do was go up and ask.

Back on subject, thank you so much for not replaying Einstein. MAR vs FiM would be very fun to watch; a best out of 5 during lunch wouldn't take much time away from anyone but the 6 teams involved.

Galileo and Newton shared the same practice field. There was a signup sheet, and I know they were following it. There were limited slots - not enough slots to accomodate all 16 alliances in the time between alliance selections and start of elims (12:00 noon, which I would have liked to have seen pushed back a bit). Also, time slots on the signup sheet were farrrr too long - you can learn what you need to know in far less time than 10 minutes. The whole "system" essentially guaranteed that some alliances would be shut out.

Insufficient time for drive teams to get some food, strategize together, and get a bit of triple practice in.

Anyway, how this relates to IRI - I request triple practice opportunities for the elimination alliances there, and hopefully, there will be a comp bridge (or two?) on the practice field to supplement any practice going on on the main field, if that is even possible.

The current plan is to have a full "official" field for practice, but with no electronics. If we are able to do this, there will be three bridges available for use.

Yay! Here's hoping this comes to pass. Thanks, Chris.

Our alliance never got a chance to practice...the earliest time we could get was 11:50. That was rather difficult considering that the elims started at noon and we were in the second match. A schedule could easily be set up before alliance selections ever happen...just base it on when each alliance plays - alliance 1 and 8 go first, then 4 and 5, then 2 and 7, and finally 3 and 6. Each alliance should need only 10 or 15 minutes to see what works best. 10 is normally enough, but with 4 team alliances the extra 5 minutes would be nice to try some different combinations.

Just a thought...

We'll come in disguise as 3193's robot. Hurray for collaboration!

This may be a dumb question, but where does one go to apply?

Rather than an Einstein replay, I've been thinking about a 3rd place match up between the Semifinalists on Einstein. I always thought that would be neat to watch. Why not do a 3rd place Einstein runoff match set?

Re: 2012 I.R.I. - Updated Event Information

I'd like to see that too. I know our flight team really wanted to go up against the Eh Team and do a 36 point auton, crazy tele-op, and triple balance to see who had the best shooter and strategy. But replaying Einstein would be very rude to the winning alliance, and would probably be counterproductive. IRI's about making friendships, not destroying any chance of them, and we need to show FIRST that even if they won't stick to the principles they tout, we will.

NOT a dumb question.

As of time of this post, the IRI website http://www.indianaroboticsinvitational.org
says, "Stay tuned to this site for the sign up page."
The required and optional info is also listed.
Thanks Mr. Fultz and CyberBlue and all the IRI hosts!
