Robonauts vs. D'Penguineers
This is match 129 on the Newton field at the 2012 FIRST Robotics Championship Event in St. Louis on Friday, April 27, 2012. It features The Robonauts, 118 vs. D"Penguineers, 1717. They were each vying for a higher ranking and it ended in a 71-71 tie. They shared the coopertition bridge.
http://youtu.be/5GZUfyob_Qw For those who never got to see 118 in action, :p , here is one of the most beautiful and effective machines of the year. The same is true of 1717, but they were on the far side of the field. |

After posting it, there were many spammy and rude comments. My junk folder is loaded. I guess YouTube may have featured it. Dunno why. Most views I ever had. :ahh: I didn't intend it to become so popular. I posted it for the ChiefDelphi and FIRST community. I will be uploading more, (click on my channel link) but these so far were among my favorites. |
Re: Robonauts vs. D'Penguineers
Google seems to have put some FRC videos (including two from Titanium) on their front page of Youtube. It seems as if we have some work to do with this kind of response.

Re: Robonauts vs. D'Penguineers
Yea, some of the comments on the page were raunchy, and there's even a reaction video to it saying it was ****ing stupid... honestly, I think google was trying to give FRC some publicity through youtube, but the reactions and comments on that video were terrible. I guess people do prefer robots beating each other up than coming together to solve a problem or play a sport in cooperating fashion.
This shouldn't say anything about FIRST's message, and I think there were still a lot of people who were impressed by the video after it was probably frontpaged, but the ones with the raunchy comments and reactions were just louder. Time for us to get Louder. |
Re: Robonauts vs. D'Penguineers
Honestly, its not a big deal...
Sure those comments are completely inappropriate but what does it matter? Its not like such comments as "wtf?", "funny", and the like are representative of the video or FIRST. What is a big deal is how many views this video has and how legitimate FIRST looks because of these too excellent robots. Nice upload. |

Re: Robonauts vs. D'Penguineers
back to the topic on hand:
That match was awesome. The two best robots in the division face off, and it ends in a tie. What better outcome is there? |

Thank you for posting this. I'm constantly searching for pictures and videos of our team, and we're glad you guys think so highly of Endeavour. D'Penguineer's robot was a thing of beauty with that crazy crab/swerve drive train, and this match was the one we looked forward to the most during seeding rounds. I don't think we could have anticipated a tie. |
Re: Robonauts vs. D'Penguineers
I love the sound of the robonauts shooter. you just hear click click click and they go zooming around collecting more balls

The truth is, the more you defend something and give attention to it, the more trolls will come. Just let it play out, and post your own comments NOT pertaining to them. |
