Re: 2012 Cowtown Throwdown
The 5th annual Cow Town ThrowDown is in the books. Team Driven and the planning committee would like to thank all those that attended this year and help break in the new venue. The final count for the event ended up with 45 FRC teams, 12 FLL and 1 Jr. FLL team in attendance.
A big thank you goes at to all those that supported the event. This event could not have happened without the support of the Cerner Corporation, Lee's Summit R7 School district staff, AndyMark, all the volunteers, and our champion Lee's Summit High School Principal Dr. Faulkenberry. The janitorial staff was amazed as to how things worked and how clean the facility remained. They went into the bleachers after Friday night to clean and did not find any trash. They commented that this never happens after a sporting event. So thank you for leaving such an impression on folks that had never seen a FIRST robotics event. The planning committee will be meeting in the next couple of weeks to recap the event and make notes for next year. If you have any comments please private message me your comments and I will take them to the committee. We hope you had a great time and will look forward to seeing you again next year. |
Re: 2012 Cowtown Throwdown
Team 16 had a great time at the 2012 Cowtown Throwdown. Thank you to Rex and all the planning committee for holding a wonderful event. The new venue was great and filled with very impressive teams. We enjoyed the Friday night matches and I was pleased to even get home last night before 10 pm.
Congratulations to Champion teams 1986, 1094, 3172, and 3284. Seeing the joy of Team 1094 on their win was one of my best FIRST moments. 1986 had one of the very elite robots of Rebound Rumble (and, I am not just saying this because they beat us :] ) and all of the GKC teams have really grown into a competitive bunch. Thanks to our alliance partners: 1982, 3612, 1775. It was pretty exciting to be on an alliance with another Arkansas team. And we are looking forward to seeing a lot of our KC friends in Fayetteville next year for Razorback. And, going against better judgment, props to my son on his first outing as the platform driver. The pressure starting showing a bit, but not until the finals... |

I must say the improvements that 2410 made to their robot since we saw you last at the KC regional were very impressive. I remember the "Breakaway" days when 2410 was winning regionals and playing in the finals. Great to see you back. |

Re: 2012 Cowtown Throwdown
It was fantastic playing with you all. From 2346, my team was on the seventh alliance with 1810, 1730, and 1939. You did great guys! Though we didn't get to play in the rounds, it was super exciting to watch. Congrats to Titanium, you guys are the best. My last CowTown Thowdown... I think this one was the best.

Re: 2012 Cowtown Throwdown
Well, better (a week) late then never, but thanks to all the volunteers, referees, mentors, and students that made the CTTD possible this year. Also, a thanks to team 1730 and Cerner for hosting the event.
Anyway, a huge congrats to teams 1986, 1094, 3172, and 3284, on winning the event, and rightly besting us en route to the finals. Tough defense from 3172, great shooting from 1094 and 1986. Our alliance put up a fight, but it just wasn't enough. Great job to every single one of you, and hope to see you at KC (and I'm pretty sure we'll see 1986 at OKC) next year. 935, 2345, 938, and 1987. I, for one, had jitters going up against this alliance. After getting quickly punched out of Oklahoma by the K.A.R.S. in the quarterfinals, and our general inability to get out of the quarterfinals at either regional we went to this year, I was fearing yet another event where we look so promising leading up to the tournament, and fall flat on our faces (hopefully only metaphorically if at all.). Great job, you definitely kept us honest in not being able to let up for a second. Also, just going to sneak in a reminder to K.A.R.S. about our ongoing programming meetings. Thursday, 3PM, working on the same project as last time. 16. 2012 FRC World Champs. With how hard it is to get to Worlds, let alone win, you guys deserve all the hype and respect you get around the FIRST community. Congrats, and see you next March. To our alliance, 3528, 1985, and 3485. You all did a wonderful job, no, a spectacular job. Despite being defeated by the aforementioned 1986-lead alliance, we went down swinging for the fences, and made a show out of it (Hey, gotta keep people interested, right?). Thanks for all the support, kind comments about us and our robot, and excellent execution of our strategy (Forcing the other alliance into 18 points worth in penalties, 1985? That's turning defense into offense if I've ever seen it.). Though I guess 3172 found the huge hole in our "let's keep them from coming across the field and defending" strategy. Alliance Bridge. Ah well, what are you going to do? Anyway, glad to see all the teams there and have a last hurrah for the 2012 robots before we all have to turn around and start focusing on getting things in place for next year. (Like having massive amounts of saran wrap piled up in the shop, just in-case there's a water game next year.) See you in 2013 (or next Thursday in the K.A.R.S's case)! |
Re: 2012 Cowtown Throwdown
Any update on videos for those matches being posted to the blue alliance?
I'm sure there are plenty of matches to do separate, and the uploading takes forever, just wondering how or if those turned out. -Thanks |

Re: 2012 Cowtown Throwdown
Although I mainly focused on our robot, so I could toss a hit tape together for our team, there might be some of other robots as well. If so, feel free to use them and credit us.
View videos here and photos here. Also, does anyone know why TBA results don't show up on our team pages? I'm kinda surprised that it doesn't appear. |
