2012 Cowtown Throwdown

Thought I might let the Midwest teams know that CowTown Throwdown registration has been open for a few days. Competition begins November 2nd and goes on the 3rd.

Hope to see you there, and BV CAPS MMR2410 can't wait to compete with you all again!

3481 Bronc Botz from San Antonio already registered...

Hopefully, we can also enter our practice bot as a 2nd entry... waiting to hear back on that...

Looking forward to our 2nd CTTD... THANKS!

Team 1730 is looking forward to hosting this event again. We may have a few bumps in the road since we have changed venues, but at least we don't have to drive so far to get there (3 blocks for me). We hope to ensure everyone has a fun and enjoyable time. We like to give the freshmen a chance to experience robotics before the season starts. This gets them excited to learn and get involved more.

Here's the VERY REASONABLE response I got on entering our practice bot as a 2nd entry to the Cow Town ThrowDown competition:

"Teams can enter a second robot with a second entry fee, however the second robot will be placed on the waiting list. (A team will need to indicate which robot is their primary robot) We will fill the 48 spots with as many individual teams as possible, and fill with teams entering a second robot as needed. Thanks for your understanding of this as our goal is to have as many different teams compete that are interested. Please note that last year there were only 32 slots and this year we’re increasing the field to 48 so there’s a very good chance a second robot will get in. The deadline for teams for pay is Oct 1. If there are slots, your second team will come off the wait list and onto the roster."

We've indicated that we want our practice bot on the Waiting List and we'll see how things go... LOVE IT when things are _upfront_ and _clear_.

This _and_ other things, makes CTTD a very worthwhile off-season event...

Team 1802 is hoping to be there we are just dealing with trying to figure out who will be there. The coach is getting married that day and 4 of the primary mentors(including myself) will be at his wedding along with at least 3 of our students.

On a side note, I'm looking forward to planning another awesome FLL rumble that coincides with Cowtown.

JUST realized that the nationwide SAT exams were recently scheduled for Saturday, November 3rd !!

HOPEFULLY, this would cause a consideration of rescheduling the dates because it knocks a HUGE/critical chunk of the Bronc Botz students being able to attend since they've signed up for the LAST opportunity to raise their scores before college apps are due by 12/31... and I'm pretty sure the same would apply to ALL the other teams/students (11th/12th grade) planning to attend...

PLEASE advise... THANKS!

Re: 2012 Cowtown Throwdown

The Kuh-nig-its of team 1939 are excited to be attending Cowtown again this year. Glad that our hosts have opted for a bigger venue and more teams. I'm sure that it will be an extremely competitive event as usual.

I'm sure that you are waiting for other offseason events to play out before deciding on rule changes, but any early insights about those changes would be great.

Also, a huge thank you to Team Driven 1730 and Cerner for hosting and sponsoring the event. It is a huge asset to the teams in the KC area and beyond to have such a top quality off season event to sharpen our skills.

Looks like 33 teams already according to http://cttd-robotics.com/pages/compe...tion/team_list. I'm not sure what the cap will be.

Looking forward to letting our new members peek under the hood of all these great robots. It's amazing how many different ways there are to solve the same challenge.

On http://cttd-robotics.com/pages/home the first paragraph says that space is limited to 48 teams.

Early registration ended September 14th. According to the CTTD website we are at 42 of our 48 team capacity. It will be nice to play with the St. Louis crowd since we will be missing many of you at the KC regional this year.

Any word on rule changes for this event?

It looks like the rule changes will follow the IRI rule changes. This link had some info on it.

We welcome all who have registered. It will be great to see the team from Vacaville, California. Also a big welcome to Ames, Iowa. We hope you enjoy our venue. If any problems, let one of the Team Driven people know and we will try to help as much as possible. We look forward to having a great time and seeing some good matches.

Re: 2012 Cowtown Throwdown

Can anybody give me an idea what time this event might finish on Saturday evening? I'm just working on a trip itinerary.

Team 967 should be able to attend this event, and we are looking forward to our first ever off-season event. This event should feature a great field of teams. Maybe this will give us a guess at just how tough the 2012 Kansas City regional would have been as a Week 5 or 6 event full of teams with competition experience already under their belts.
