CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
It's still Sunday!
The scores after the last round: Code:
EricH 160http://chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/37308 As always, the deadline is nominally Saturday at midnight Eastern. Go! |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
The hard part was getting him to stop crying on bag-and-tag night. The trick was making a pacifier out of surgical tubing.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
Our youngest student kept playing his own water game!
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
student 1 "You know the only problem with this design idea?"
mentor "How my wife will respond to having our kid on the field during play?" student 2 "accuracy?" student 3 "Keeping him alive?" student 1 "Nope, those can be engineered out. The only problem is not getting a delay of game penalty from the volunteers and other students enjoying the baby." |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
All the regular team members we used as shooters put us over the weight limit for the robot. Sure it's COTS, inspector. Right here on page 14 of the Gerber catalog, complete with bib.
[npoe] I don't want to hear even one word about diapers during the elimination rounds, either! [/npoe] |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
Orange ammo, baby wadding, and a mop for a plunger is how this team almost made it to Einstein
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
After a minute of gnawing, Lucas the baby realizes he has not been given a giant orange.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
Minibots are so 2011. At least Clint and Brandy got theirs released in the right year.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
Why you give me stupid orange ball? I want tools!
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
Guy with the lacrosse stuff: "Wait, I thought the pre-freshman's mom nixed the use-her-baby idea. I even brought stuff for a proof-of-concept for my catapult!"
Mentor holding the bay: "She got outvoted." |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
FIRST: Letting other teams borrow your baby *just so you can win the Coopertition Award.
*Even without the enticement of the Coopertition Award, most teams would probably just hand over any extra babies they have for free. Thats just how GP they are |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
Well, clearly this prototype is substandard for our needs. C'mon Martha, we better go back home and iterate some more.

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
I'm glad they relaxed the motor rules. You won't believe what we found at the junkyard! We just need to get him some black pants to show polarity.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
Student in background: "You know, when we suggested that you bring us one of 1114's students, we meant someone who could actually talk to us about their robot!"
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
Last time I checked, you couldn't get one of those legally within 6 weeks. I'm not even going to let you say it was a COTs part.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
OK, You convinced me, he is a pre-college student, he fits in the 120 lb weight limit, I might even go with the interpretation of the COTS definition that any team can obtain one from more than one source. Where I am drawing the line at is the legal power used on the robot, and more importantly hazardous materials. Drool aside, there are other things that can leave residue on the field...
[R08] Robot parts shall not be made from hazardous materials, be unsafe, cause an unsafe condition, or interfere with the operation of other Robots. Examples of items that will violate this rule include (but are not limited to): A. Shields, curtains, or any other devices or materials designed or used to obstruct or limit the vision of any drivers and/or coaches and/or interfere with their ability to safely control their Robot Besides, are you sure you can remove a game piece from him after the match is over? (And you thought inspection was easy?!?!?) |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
[npoe] You only score a person's last entry, right, Billfred? 'Cause my previous one was awkwardly worded. [/npoe]
Guy with the lacrosse stuff: "Wait, I thought that since the pre-freshman's mom nixed the use-her-baby idea, we were going to go with my catapult. So why's he here?" Mentor with the baby: "We made a poll on Chief Delphi, and the results were overwhelming. You both got outvoted." [npoe] Wouldn't it be weird if that actually happened? [/npoe] |

You are correct. :) |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
As long as he doesn't poop, we'll be fine guys.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
It's great to bounce ideas off of each other, no matter how big or how small. You just may net a couple of good ones.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
Proud parent with baby: "This is how we get an early start with future team members -- introduce them to robotics at a very early age."
Guy with mop: "Why do I have to clean up after every kid they bring in here who has an accident?" Guy with tools: "When are those guys gonna stop fooling around with photo op's and let me get back to work on this robot?" |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
He doesn't play Baby Einstein, he's a baby who plays on Einstein.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
This gives a whole new meaning to dribbling
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
This gives a whole new meaning to "Bouncing Baby Boy"...
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
The team fiercely debated the idea that this baby was a COTS item.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
Even if you did get him at an ARA junkyard, how on earth did you get them to put windshield wiper, door, seat, or window motor on the receipt?
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #412
