Creative ways to recognize sponsors
 

My team is in the process of dramatically expanding our search for sponsorship. To help with this, we have begun drafting a set of sponsorship "tiers," with various benefits given out for different levels of support. Of course this will include all the standard ways in which teams recognize sponsors (name on robot, name on T-shirt, listed in official team name, etc.), but we were curious about some of the more creative techniques teams use to recognize their sponsors.

How does your team go the extra mile to thank your sponsors for making your team possible, and to make sponsoring your team an attractive option?

When it comes to sponsorship recognition (an many other aspects of FRC), quality trumps creativity...

I personally like receiving quarterly news letters and a thank you card. Ideally the thankyou card should like like some effort was put into making it special for your team, and signed by many (if not all) team members. Plaques are nice, but they become difficult to find room for. If you are going to do a plaque, a neat trick would be to give the sponsor a plaque with extra room for extra sponsorship year badges. Then you would be sending a new plate each year (along with a letter, and thankyou card).

This year, my team organized a Sponsorship Apreciation Dinner. It was a semi formal dinner that the team put on, and made salad (and the dressing), green beans, garlic bread, lasagna and desserts completely from scratch.

The sponsors seemed to enjoy it, and it was a fun night. I think they appreciate it more when you make all the food from scratch like we did.

We always deliver, in person, an engraved plaque (we have three laser engravers at our school, so this is easy) and a framed picture from that season. We also have our sponsors as speakers at some of our events. This year we also put on a thank you reception for our sponsors and volunteers. In addition we also put their names/logos on our t-shirts, robot, website, etc.
