Also, I was looking through some old drafts and the rules and found something about tiers in each draft to divide up who is in what draft, could someone either post here or PM me clarifying how that works? Thanks!

I'll post it, along with some other items...

For each draft where (# teams in attendance)< 3x(# FF League teams), FF teams are split into tiers as evenly as possible. Who is in Tier 1, Tier 2, etc. varies by draft--it's random. Each tier drafts the same set of teams, and there is no "top" tier. For any event where the above inequality is not true, there is only one tier, with all participating FF players.


Now, an item of "business"...

I will be unable to run scoring this year. I can track who has what team, and help with attendance tracking, and run the waiver system--but I don't have the time to score the events, and I don't have time to run drafts.

This means that if somebody wants to step up and handle the scoring, now's your chance to say so. It's not particularly easy, but somebody's got to do it. There are two parts, event scoring (assigning scores to the teams at an event) and team scoring (making sure all the FF players get the points their teams earned). Speak up now, and I can offer some suggestions and advice (the best advice being don't do it all yourself--trust me!).

If you've ever played fantasy football, you will have some idea of how to play Fantasy FIRST (FF).

But, if you haven't, it's not that hard of a concept to pick up. For whatever event the FF league is playing in, pick 3 teams. Each team earns points based on standings, awards, wins, etc. Each player in the league gets the number of points his teams do. If you don't pick a team, a random team may be assigned--could be a surprise good one, could be a team that doesn't win a match.

Season Long FF (this league) takes it to another level. For every event in the FIRST season, including districts, area championships, and regionals, each player or team picks 3 teams. (For the FIRST Championship Event, it's 4 teams/division.) Each team earns its player(s) or team(s) points. (See earlier discussion of "tiers".) Highest number of points wins bragging rights.

But... there's a catch. Miss 5 drafts in a row (loose translation, 3 draft days), and you are given a warning. Miss the next draft day and you're out of the league and any teams you've picked already can be picked up by other players. The drafts run from Thanksgiving to Kickoff, with 2 drafts on most days and only 2 off days.

FYI, we don't need to know ahead of the drafts anything except who is on the team. It's actually quite possible for all the members of the team to make a pick or a change in any given draft. Just be sure that however your team is organized, your picks and changes get in.

Make lists, not draft schedules. ;)

Seriously - send in a list as often as you can, even if you change your mind or it has a handful of teams on it. Way easier for everyone that way.

I'll probably be running with the short list strategy this year. In the past, I've done every team... No time to do that this year.
