2013 Predicted Events Calendar
 

Have folks heard about changes in venue/location/week for events? Any more new regionals? I've heard that Palmetto is moving to week 1 and Myrtle Beach, can anyone confirm? Have also heard of a new regional in Cali!

Hope people have some info to post. The dates below are based on a predicted January 5th kickoff. Thursday through Sunday are the dates in case of any Sunday events. Note that anything posted here, even if backed by citing venue calendars, is not an official schedule from FIRST.

Week 1 Feb 28th - March 3rd:
Central Valley Regional - as per R.C.
Palmetto Regional - as per Myrtle Beach Convention Center calendar


Week 2 March 7th - March 10th:
Autodesk Oregon Regional - as per Dale from 1540

Week 3 March 14th - March 17th:
Virginia Regional - as per venue calendar


Week 4 March 21st - March 24th:
Wisconsin Regional - as per venue calendar

Week 5 March 28th - March 31st:
Washington D.C. Regional - as per convention center calendar
Alamo Regional - as per venue calendar

Week 6 April 4th - April 7th:
MAR Regional Championship (location TBD)

I believe Maine is establishing a new regional for 2013.

At IRI I was Told by Chris Fultz that they are trying to get one started in Indiana. Not sure how that will turn our, but I think it would be a great Regional.

I wonder if another Canadian regional will show up. Right now my team is trying to create more teams in Windsor/Essex (right across the river from Detroit). Currently there is only one, us (772). We contacted a Teacher in Kingsville which is where 773 use to be, they may be coming back as a rookie team.
With these new teams we are trying to start we are hoping that in the next five years we can get enough teams to 1. start an offseason event 2. start a Regional event, and maybe get American teams to come to Canada for a regional.

Any comments on the Double Regional's this year? Last year there was GTR-West and GTR-East in the same Venue, and I believe there were a couple this year. GTR-West and GTR-East are just completely different Regional's now.

What's your definition of a Double Regional? Minnesota has had a double regional for a few years now (North Star and 10,000 Lakes). Same weekend, across the street from each other.

Also, I believe Duluth is turning into a double regional this year!

It is listed on the event calendar for the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

Is the Calgary Regional going to happen? I heard it was cleared by FIRST, but I don't know if they got a place.

The Knoxville Convention Center looks to be booked Feb 27th and March 2nd so I'm assuming the Smoky Mt. Regional is moving as well.

Anyone have info on perhaps a new location or a new week? Nothing FIRST related is booked yet for March.

Also just heard that the MAR Championship will not be in "week 7" like last time. It will be week 6 and is moving from Temple University, new location is TBD.

Looking at the spring breaks for the host sites, Boilermaker Regional could be March 14-16, Queen City Regional could be March 28-30, and the unconfirmed yet strongly hinted second Indiana regional could be April 4-6.

Akash - For reference, would you mind putting the corresponding dates on the OP?

There have been rumors floating around that the South Florida Regional might be going to a new location (after only 1 year), but that is just a rumor

On a side note does anyone know the date the FIRST is releasing all the regional dates and locations?

Double Regional would be where Two fields are set up in the same arena, and two different Regionals are taking place. 2011 GTR west and east were both held in the Hershey Center, and they would play matches on one field while the other field is being reset.

Another thing I saw (at my very first ever regional - GTR 2006) was the same regional having two fields. I don't believe they do this anymore. But you could be playing on either field, and it was only one regional. It got pretty confusing though so I think that is why they stopped doing those. The nice thing was that there was almost always a match being played.

Well this just sucks! I know that this is the one Regional we WILL be attending. The Ten hour drive is worth trying to get back to back regional wins in Smoky Mountains, the atmosphere at this regional was amazing, I would recommend going to Knoxville to anyone. It was cool being the team that everyone came to for advice, we helped out a lot of teams while we were there and we hope that helps them all become more competitive in the future!


There is never really a specific date. FIRST has to get all contracts and such done before they release the Regional lists for the year. You should expect it to come out in September or at the latest early October.

Washington DC Regional is listed as being 03/29/2013 - 03/30/2013 on the convention center's website.
