Titanium may well actually be worth the effort this year for climbing robots. Keep weight in check while making sure your robot won't be completely hosed by a bad fall.

Cost and machining difficulties might make aluminum spare parts more effective. Just a thought.

I have friends who have competed in Battlebots style competitions, and have used titanium to great advantage. As a construction material it is much better suited to that style of competition than a FIRST robot. Cost was also not an issue for them because they were sponsored my a major titanium producer who supplied their raw material and also provided construction advice.

Hi all! Yes, 103 has been using titanium since 2008.

A couple of points.
1.) It's expensive, we have a sponsor that donates.
2.) Must be welded, can get tricky.
3.) SUPER light, and SUPER strong!
