As far your recommendations, I totally understand what you are getting at, but remember that FRC games have to put on a show, and they lack 'themes' that you might see in FLL or BEST. I think it'll just be a random game that no one's really expecting.

Tell that to our payload specialists that played around the crater atop regolith receiving empty cells from the outpost through the fueling port, all while taking direction from a commander normally occupied with his pilots. ;)

If you're not excited, you're not creative.
Stay both. <-- bad grammar?

I didnt even play in 2005, yet that is my favorite game as well.

Something to do with the Mars Curiosity landing would be interesting. Would fit with the non sport theme. Stacking game? Ugh, that will be... fun...

I really love the mars idea. Especially if it somehow involves sky cranes and high powered lasers :p

But in all seriousness, a mars game would be great because it could retain some of the relatability of the sports games. Most people understand the concept of the mars rovers and therefore would have an easy time accepting a rover related competition. It would be a great conversation starter.

Also, the ftc animation is already laying down a bit of a Mars theme :)

Here's a twist. Go to http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprogr...ist#FRC Events and under the header "Kit and Kickoff" explain those first (2) items.

Kit and Kickoff
Kit of Parts drive system option opens in TIMS at noon Mon, 10/1/2012
Kit of Parts drive system option closes in TIMS at noon Thu, 10/18/2012

Speeder - Here's your explanation:

That is the change to the kit that started this thread, and those 2 items you pointed out are a direct result of the blog announcement.

It's sad that I am on my phone and can't open it for my battery life's sake, but I still know what it is - and laughed out loud as if I'd seen it.

LOL keep that creative mind flowing, if your new to FRC try looking at pervious games that have already been done, you will notice that their is a trend, FRC tends to combine pervious games to make new one and much more exciting like this year game, i have a feeling that it might be a stacking game this coming year since the last one was Triple play in 2005, the same year it went from 2 team alliance to 3 team alliance, but it would be nice to see a stacking game

i agree. im thinking stacking for that reason as well as ftc did a stacking game this year. last year they did a shooting game. i havent looked into it much but a friend said he noticed a trend of similar frc games to the previous year ftc games. however i feel like the gdc lurks on cd and waits for people to find their patters then change said patterns.

I don't know about patterns, but I am fairly certain that they do camp out here.
