I was honestly quite surprised at the weight but this robot is in my opinion the definition of simple. |

After a build season where you most likely made mistakes along the way you'd like to correct, and a competition season where you've seen literally HUNDREDS of other solutions to the identical problem- you may be able to find significant ways to to reduce weight. I know our team has quite a few in mind if we were to "do it again" so to speak. -Brando |

I'm sure there are many more fine examples that haven't posted their weights, so who knows. |
Re: pic: Team 3647: Underweight Robot?
I remember our 2008 hurdler Fezzik came in around 80lbs!

Re: pic: Team 3647: Underweight Robot?
There was a lot of things we learned and redid on this robot, which is probably the reason for the much lower weight. As well as taking some more time to look at the designs and figure out where we can cut weight and make a lighter frame.
However it kinda sucks that this year is one of the few years you want a robot near the 120lbs limit... xD |
Re: pic: Team 3647: Underweight Robot?
Awesome, I'm interested to see the design.
Can I ask: what kind of scale do you use to weigh your robot? Edit*** Sorry I'm having a dumb moment. The model of the scale is clearly visible in the picture. |
Re: pic: Team 3647: Underweight Robot?
I remember my senior year on 116 we set our robot on the inspection scale without removing the battery. As we were setting it down, the inspector pointed mentioned that fact out to us, then turned to read the scale and said "never mind." We were barely over 100 lbs with the battery in. We took it out anyway just to get a proper reading on a competition scale.
