Re: 2013 Finger Lakes Regional

Well, all that should be said has been said, I think, but it being my senior year and all I still would like to chime in and say it again:

What an over-the-top amazing regional. I've told my friends that FLR deserves a scientist name like the fields at the Championship, if this level of competition continues. Sitting there in the stands, watching the elimination matches, Karthik, Eric, and Jon Darr at the mic, scores breaking 100s... You had to be there. And those of you who were there know exactly what I'm talking about.

I want to extend a personal thanks to Karthik for bringing his signature MC flying kicks to the finals, Angry Eric for his fantastic coat, Dante for being the best FRC head ref, and Rob and Liz for being dedicated to making FLR what it is every year.

Even though I won't be attending FLR next year as a part of team 639, I hope the event continues to be one of the most exciting venues of Week 1.

Here is the first match of the finals. I've yet to see the final match. I can't wait to see the awesome move by Team #48 on us. It completely caught us off guard!

Congrats to all the great teams that were at FLR this weekend. Thank you again to all the volunteers that make everything run so smoothly.

I have uploaded the elimination matches here, I know everyone was looking for these.

I'm hoping to have the qualification matches that I have recorded up later this week, if anyone is looking for something specific let me know.

Working on that...but it wasn't anything special. Perhaps I should leave y'all in the dark such that the play remains something of hyperbolic legend.

Also - thank you Patrick! Very much appreciated!

It wasn't the play that was impressive. It was the gall to even try it that had everyone buzzing. If you were wrong any chance of victory probably would have gone out the window right then and there.

The 48 defensive DNA lies dormant in the drive train. It's impossible to forget.

It was special enough to have me freaking out on the other end of the field...

I repeat. I never want to be on the opposite side of the field at 48 ever again. Just too scary.

Unfortunately Leeland 48 has grown quite attached to the Rah Cha Cha Ruckus.

True dat.

Here's something I threw together - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrwGN...ature=youtu.be

By the way, we and 340 collide pretty dang violently in one scene in this vid. They took the licks and kept on ticking. They hung in all three matches against us, although we were able to slow them down enough in the last two matches to win. A side benefit was we drew the attention of their alliance partners, keeping them distracted as well. So good job to 340 for building a resilient and crowd-pleasing machine!

I would like the entire Semifinal 2 match 1, with all of that empty time that it took me and the rest of the crew to get the scores right. haha.

I would like to thank 3173 and 250 for selecting us as their bouncer!!! Both great teams and made our tournament when they came over after. What fantastic GP - something we are still working on given the turnover we had this year. We learned a ton at FLR and not just about competition/robots.

We are fixing our disc loader and adding in two more drive CIMs before Cincy!!! Just in case we end up in a similar situation, we will have twice the power:D Bummer we aren't going to Cleveland with most of the other local teams, but scheduling didn't work out.

Thank You and we wish you the best the rest of the season.

BTW, we have some photos and vids on our FB page and loading more as we have time. https://www.facebook.com/CircuitStompersFirstTeam378

So here's the best vid I could find of our gambit in Finals Match #2:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NLFt6O0wWU

This series really should have gone to a third match - it deserved that kind of ending. Next time, we'll hang faster. :)

Bonus video of our "dancing" driver.

If a Karthik falls off a pyramid, does it make a sound?

I was watching the webcast, it felt like a flash back to me. I remember being on the opposite end of 48's defense back in 2007. It was a scary thing back then. It's much better to be on the same side of the field as them.

Can't wait to see it in action live, sad that they will not be in Pittsburgh this year, but looking forward to checking the robot out at Queen city.
