A FIRST Minecraft server
 

Hey everyone
Ghost-422 from team 1319 and I have decided on hosting a FIRST community minecraft server for a few marathons throughout this season a marathon will be a weekend or up to week of the server being open. After every marathon the map will be released to the public. Note that the marathon dates haven't been decided. right now we are looking for how much interest their is.

Hey guys

It is to my knowledge that Tekkit has become popular so do you guys prefer Vanilla with a few bukkit plugins or the all powerful Tekkit with all of its mods.

Hmmmmm... I haven't really used Tekkit but I think it IS pretty awesome. I think Tekkit is the way to go!

Hey, we build robots, or at least are associated with people who build robots, I think a Tekkit server would be nice. Only problem is that Tekkit is a bit difficult to get started with, and once you get started with it, a few hours have flown by. So in the interest of keeping procrastination to a minimum, I would probably prefer a vanilla Bukkit server over Tekkit.

As mentioned before Camren and I are going to be hosting the server. Camren had the idea of using a mod/plug-in to have multiple worlds (creative, survival, etc.). My question to you all is, on the survival world, would you want PvP enabled? With PvP enabled it may cause some arguments or disagreements and end up making someone mad. On the other hand it also adds another element to the game and may make it more interesting.

Yea, PvP should be enabled. Even though people might get mad, it's always funny to watch people fight each other :D
But really, PvP should be enabled, it'll be lots of fun. Maybe you could make a battle or something related to FRC.

I got the idea of making a board where each person will make a sign with where they are from and what team they are on. You could read it and see where everyone that played on the server was at.

This weekend is Beta test marathon it will run Friday tbd pm central to Monday morning 6 central and the map will be released the following week. For voice chat a Teamspeak will be hosted. The IP for the server and Teamspeak will be released by Thursday.

I feel a little bad doing this, because I own the server im about to advertise, but if anyone wants a server with a starting area built, etc, to use as overflow or just to play on, you can check out play.wubcraft.com (that's the IP)

PvP is allowed outside of the spawn zone, as is griefing. (Hide your stuff)

We have a few plugins, including shops, iconomy, pvp rewards, and some more.

At the minimum, if anyone is looking for an overflow server for the FIRST server, this can work. I can set the maximum slots as high as I want, and the server can probably support 50-60 people on simultaneously.

Also, if you like the server, you can join the forum. Just remove "play." from the IP.

We're on 24/7, too, unless something bad happens. I'm Keatonic on the server, and you can @ me on Twitter (keatonm27) if you need anything.

I have it at the latest Bukkit release. I update as soon as bukkit is updated, so it may be a few days. That's why I encourage people to only use the 'official' MC build.

The problem with using snapshots is you need a vanilla server to truly run them.

Hey guys, first off, sorry to revive a thread, second, we were gonna set a server for our team, but not very many of our team members participated, so we decided that we'd open it up to all FIRST teams. As opposed to the server posted above this server has 100% uptime and already has a spawn area. If you guys are interested in playing on it, I'll release the ip after our team's big event, sharkfest (the end of next week).

Hey guys our team was going to set up a team minecraft server, but very few team members got on, so we decided to open it up to all first teams. If you guys are interested, I will release the IP after our team's big event (SharkFest, which is the end of next week). Unlike the server posted above, it will be up 24/7 indefinitely, so what do you guys think?
