[FF]: 2013 Season Long Waiver Thread
 

This thread is for all things waiver in the Season Long Fantasy FIRST League for the 2013 competition. For those that haven't played, it's really simple: If a team becomes available after a draft, for any reason, they can be claimed in this thread. Any team can claim any available team in any of their tiers; highest on the list to make a claim gets them and goes to the bottom of the list. No limit to the number of claims per cycle. Any player missing a team jumps straight to the top of the waiver list in that tier only.

Teams will be available for a minimum of 48 hours after their presence as an available team is announced. The maximum time a team will spend on the waiver list is 7 days plus up to 48 hours, as I process the claims at least once every 7 days. If the deadline is sooner than 7 days, that will be announced.

I have an initial waiver priority list. It's based on the total number of points scored last year in all events (regular season+championship). The more total points you scored, the lower on the initial list you ended up. Rookie groups are at the top in order of signing up. If more teams add in, I'll get them in position as they come.

With registration closed, I now have the current official waiver order.

A few other notes: Waivers will be cycled on Sunday nights. Teams that aren't on the waiver list by Friday night will not go through the cycle; they go to the next week. At my discretion, I may cycle waivers faster; in no case will a team be on waiver for less than 48 hours.

If some player drops out of the league, their teams will be on waiver immediately--attempting to pick up one of those teams will be counted as a waiver claim.

If more than one claim is made in a given cycle, make sure to note the order you want to make the claims in.

You must be in the tier. So, I cannot take any teams that are currently on waiver, as they are not in my tier.

You all have until the waivers are processed the evening of 12/2 to make claims. Claims include the team you want to pick up, the team you'll give up to get them, and the tier you're in. Multiple claims should have a priority indication of which one is most important to you.

As a reminder, when one of your claims goes through, you go to the bottom of the list. However, even being at the bottom there are a number of decent teams that filter down to you; I spent most of last season at the bottom of the list and did reasonably well.

Minimum 2 days warning if I need to do a fast cycle. Same warning as a new team joining the list on waiver.

James, you're A-OK--assuming that that list is in priority order.

Incidentally... if someone claims A for B and C for D in Magnolia Regional. A is claimed by someone higher on the list, but C is not. They get C and drop B. D is unaffected.

Yes. Standard practice. I typically assume that if you're making multiple drops, the highest-priority claim is the first team you want to drop.

Yes, mainly because Friday is the last day a team can become eligible for the waiver cycle ending Sunday (there's a mandatory minimum time of 48 hours--this allows everyone to see who's available).

I'll be going through and updating with Awesome's dropped teams as soon as I can--it may be a little while to a day or so.

No waiver teams there, unless you know something I don't.

Waiver teams are generated ONLY when a team becomes available after a draft is over. This happens when either a team is booted (as 5 teams were) or teams join an event after the draft has happened, or a waiver cycle goes through and dropped teams become available. So far, all the booted players' teams have been posted; the mentioned events do not have any players who were booted. I haven't been looking for teams who've added/dropped yet--I don't really get into that until after drafting season is over and build season has begun.

EDIT: For future reference, make sure that you are in the tier you are making the claim in. CB+1+Joe did not. They made a claim in Tier 2 of an event, but were actually in Tier 1. There is a really good chance that they could have gotten the team--in fact, I'd awarded them the team in Tier 2--but due to not making the claim in the proper tier, no team.

FTG can still put them on their list of waivers; your claim was simply noted as a waiver; whether you are above them or not is regardless since you are not in the top waiver position; and you could put a different waiver higher on your list.

Although it isnt listed on the usfirst site, St. Joseph FiM looks like added 217 ThunderChickens (per thebluealliance.com). IF indeed this change is made and 217 goes on waivers, TeamRUSH from Tier 1 would like to drop 4391 for 217

I updated the waiver sheet, but Orlando was probably one of the events I ran out of time to get to. I'd have to look it up to be sure (now where did the cats swipe the thumb drive with the file to?)

Edit: Found the thumb drive (under the stove), opened up the file, and discovered that I did in fact not get around to Orlando's draft listing when I was doing waivers. I'll see about getting that done tonight.

Well... Only one awarded claim this week. Fellowship of the Fez got 3476 in San Diego, which puts 3704 on waiver in San Diego, and Fellowship of the Fez at the bottom of the list instead of the top.

As I recall, there's an unidentified waiver team in one of the events, and a rumored waiver team in another. As soon as someone identifies for sure that those teams have added events, they can make a claim for them--they just need to bear in mind that anybody can claim the team; highest on the list to make a claim gets them.

There are also a few players missing teams in various events. Those players have top priority in those events, and don't need to wait for a cycle to get a team. The Machine, Awesome Blossom, Canadian Bacon+1+Joe, and rusty bucket o bolts (due to a double pick in GTRE 1) all fall into this category. Missing teams can be filled by waiver, by drafting from the free agent pool, or by the scorer assigning a random team before scoring.

Good guess... but not quite.All teams that aren't claimed on any given waiver cycle become free agents. In this case, only one team was claimed, so every team except for the dropped team from that claim becomes a free agent.

The rumored 217 appearance has not yet materialized, so unless they show up by Friday night, they won't be on this waiver cycle. I do plan to cycle waivers on Sunday as usual (giving out a few presents, you know ;) ).

Note on claiming teams that are adding, and another on missing team priority:
If a team adds, all you have to do is make a claim for them, or announce their presence (though I trust you'll verify they're attending with the FIRST site). I'll add them to any other tiers for the event. (You may also want to pray that nobody higher than you grabs them...)

If you are missing a team, you can pick any team that is currently available in that tier, whether or not they are on waivers. You get the team on the spot. If they're on waivers, I short-circuit the process to eliminate that team from waivers and move you to the bottom of the list.

With all these coming onto the list today, we're a little short of the 48-hour minimum. So, in the interest of time (I think there are some robots being designed or something) and all that...

1477, Bayou, is bumped to join the rest of the waiver teams on a THURSDAY waiver cycle (and all claims received remain valid). Again, that's Thursday, 1/10/2013, when the waivers are cycled. Any additional teams need to be found by Tuesday, 1/8, to be in this cycle.

Official rusty buckets o' bolts waiver list:

If a team was not assigned to us for Peachtree, drop from 3rd to 2nd to 1st in that order.

Example: If we don't get 624, then drop 1311 for 3091 (3rd) instead of 4188 (2nd), and so on.

With respect to 188 and GTRE 1:

They are no longer on the team list for the event. Therefore, Peach Alliance used missing team priority properly, has 4807, and is now on the bottom of the waiver list.

Fellowship of the Fez has a corresponding missing team priority in GTRE 2.

They will go onto waiver. Same as any other team that joined after the draft.

However, usually when a team drops out of an event, they aren't coming back to it that year.

So what would happen if hypothetically we didn't put in that claim? Cause right now I feel like I screwed the rest of our chances for those other waivers.

I would hypothetically cancel the claim, put you back into the spot you left, and 4807 would be on waiver in both tiers of GTRE. You would still be able to invoke missing team priority if you chose to do so later, or you could make that claim this round and specify that you did NOT want to use the missing team priority. Of course, I would need to know non-hypothetically before I started processing waivers... I'll probably get to that around 9 PM Eastern, in case anybody's wondering.

There are also quite a few waiver claims of yours that have no competition as yet.




As a reminder, I've been upfront all season and in the SLFF rules about use of missing team priority dropping whoever uses it to the bottom of the waiver list. If you want to take that chance, that's your choice. If you don't, that's also your choice.

Waivers are now being run; no further claims will be accepted for this round. However, as Peach Alliance has asked a hypothetical question, possibly retracting a claim, I have opted to stop the run at their original slot and wait to see if they actually wish to retract their claim.

I can confirm 1477 and 624 are off the board, and 68 is no longer available in Kettering 2.

There goes three of our top four claims! On the other hand, since we were right after Peach Alliance before they dropped, I assume that means we'll get the last remaining of those four, with which I am perfectly happy :)

I was informed today that 2016 is registered for Buckeye, and team Awesome Blossom would like to put a claim in for them. As Awesome Blossom has Missing Team Priority in Buckeye, and would like to use it, 2016 will fill 68's spot on their alliance.
