Good luck to you too. You guys have improved a lot since we saw you on the RPI practice field and should be proud of your robot.

No hanging points for the red alliance?

According to my sources, the ruling was that two robots hanging from the same wrung is worth zero points.

The Manual has no such rule. If that was indeed the ruling, I would expect a challenge from the red alliance--and probably something coming from FRC HQ if the ruling was upheld.

Challenged by 2791 and call upheld. Wondering if the bots in some way helped each other climb? I still can't see a way that at least 1 would not get 10 points and I'm struggling to find a way it's not 20.

I'm guessing this was in the finals and the no call changed the outcome of the match?

10 hang would have been tie, 20 would have changed the winner.

No, during the finals it looked like at least one Red robot had hung on the first level (possibly a second robot as well, hard to see from the webcast), but the Red alliance wasn't awarded any hanging points. Could just be my mistake, but it looked good to me.

Helping each other climb is ALSO not grounds for negating a climb, by itself.

G33: One robot may only climb on another if one of the two is in contact with the pyramid. (Loose translation: If one robot is in contact with its pyramid, and another uses it to climb, then its A-OK per the rules as long as the sequential and number of levels are OK.)

If there were two robots with 10-point hangs who hung on the same rung, and neither hang was counted, then either neither climbed in sequential order (highly unlikely) or both contacted Level 2 while on the floor.

Edit: I haven't checked the Q&A, or watched the event. But this is really starting to sound like a badly blown call in finals, something that hasn't been seen in 5 years. The last time, FIRST opened slots at Championship for the finalists who lost on a scoring call that the Manual didn't support. We'll see what happens this time.

Did they not even give an explanation? I would hope that in a situation like this they would at least do that so the red alliance would have enough information to argue their case.

We've been discussing that. 2 robots on the same rung not getting points was the explanation, or so I hear. I could call that a number of things, but I'll just call it unsupportable by the Manual.

Ah, sorry. But they didn't cite an official rule? Because if they did someone could look it up and correct them if they've misinterpreted something.

Re: 2013 WPI Regional

The other possibility is the robots were resting on unseen frisbees, negating the climbs. I suppose we'll wait to see what the teams say once awards are over. But no rules or violations were cited, the scores were shown and that was that.
