Thank you to 2168 and 3280 for being our allinace partners, we really coulsn't have done what we did without you guys!!

And good job to 20, 2791, and 3182 you guys were phenomenal throughout the competition.

It was fun haveing 20, 1493, 2791 and us all at the same competition, and even better with all of us in eliminations.

Congrats to team 1100 for chairmans, from the video, you guys really deserve it!!

It was fun cheering for everyone, and being there.

Hope to see all of you next year or at St. Louis!!

Thanks to Dave @ 228 for driving in our first few matches Friday, and to all the teams that helped us through this regional. Between the weather and the robot it was... an experience.

2791, you guys have a beautiful robot. Wish we could have been on the same side of the field again this year.
558, I can't speak for our drive team, but that 6 CIM drive is scary.
1100, It was a pleasure talking with you guys off the field before elims. Congrats on the Chariman's and innovation & control awards.

177, 126, 1884, 558, 2370, 1100, 20, 3182, and 2791 Thanks for some amazingly close matches. It was a pleasure sharing the field with you all.

To our drive team for driving it like they stole it.

And last but not least thanks to our alliance partners 3044 and 3280. You guys really pulled your weight out there. There's no way we could have done it without you putting up the shots.

For those of you who are going to Hartford, I look forward to seeing how we all stack up again after everyone's tweaks are made. Week 5 is gonna be an exciting one to watch.

This was such a fantastic regional. It was only 157's 2nd time attending not a BC event at WPI and it was so nice to see so many familiar faces and meet some new ones. We all had a BLAST!

One thing that really stood out for me was that even though the snow hindered some people's efforts to get there, that the kids never hesitated to step up and drive for other teams until their drivers could get there.

Many congratulations to the winning alliance of 2168, 3044 and 3280, and the finalist alliance of 2791, 20, and 3182. :)

Also, congrats to Team 1100 for winning the chairman's award. They worked incredibly hard for it and we're so proud of them.

On behalf of Team 3182, Athena's Warriors, let me just say our experience at this regional was indescribable.

We had problem after problem on Thursday and Friday and ended up removing our shooter and most of our pneumatics and electrical systems to debug on Friday. We thought we were done after we didn't have enough time to make desired changes on Friday and Saturday.

It was such an honor to be chosen by Shaker and The Rocketeers. Thank you for the opportunity.

In hindsight I wish we could go back and hang on the other side of that pyramid, but there's no way to fix that now. Getting so far as a team who's only played in quarterfinals once was absolutely incredible. We never imagined that we would have that opportunity. I think our shifters really and drivers' experience really paid off this year.

I'm also incredibly inspired by the gracious professionalism displayed by all the teams involved in the elims. With such a heated competition, it's amazing that everyone is so understanding and calm about the outcome. I love this community so much.:]

I was not able to attend but I was glued to the webcast all weekend watching the local Capital District teams do outstanding this weekend. I loved seeing 2791 and 20 do so well. 2791 I cant think of a team that is more due for a win then you guys. 20 I loved your design it was so similar to what we wanted to go with for our design but decided to try the suction method after we could not get a good roller/sweeper like you had.

3044 you were a great pick and I was impressed as I watch how good your robot kept getting over the weekend. You peaked at the right time and congrats on the banner.

It was great to see Larry Ruff win the WFA award he puts so much time in helping local teams and could not be more modest about all the work he puts in.

Was very proud of 1493 and our season, this is our only regional which is kind of bitter sweet but we made great progress. We examined all the mistakes we have made in the past and feel like we had a performance to be proud of. We are going to try to add a few additions and hopefully do a few off season events.

Teams 155 and 2877 thank you for selecting us to be partners with. From all that I have heard the students had a great time working with you. Best of luck in the future.

I really enjoy this game and love all the possible strategies that can be played, and the variation in bots is so nice to see.

Re: 2013 WPI Regional

A HUGE thanks to Colleen Shaver for running an air-tight regional under some very trying circumstances. It's not everyone who would give her cell number to 42 teams just in case we were having transportation problems, which we ended up having when our robot and all our equipment got stuck sitting in traffic for almost 4 hours while the state police cleared a tractor-trailer roll over. Or who would make sure that the WPI lots and parking garages were available to us when on-street parking in the blizzard was clearly going to be a problem. Again, truly a well-run event, and always a pleasure to attend.

Thanks to our alliance partners, teams 1100 and 2370. We had some bumps in the road, but it was fun playing with you. 1100, we were thrilled when you approached us about teaming up, having watched your impressive play all weekend. And 2370, man did you guys step it up when we needed you to, banging frisbees into that 2 point goal with amazing accuracy.

Congrats to the winning alliance, 2168, 3044 and 3280, and to 1100 for winning Chairman's.

See some of you again in a few weeks in CT!

Thanks so much for the kind words! It was great to see the entire Capital district have so much success this year, especially Larry Ruff's very well deserved Woodie Flowers Finalist Award.

You guys were awesome. The second we locked in #1 and decided on 20, the very first thing we decided is that 1493 would be the absolute perfect pick for us. An under-30 inch robot with a good drivetrain, autonomous, and a ten point hang to boot... We knew you would be long gone by the time our second pick came around, but it would have been so nice to be able to form an all New York alliance.

FIRSTly, contgratz to 2168, 3280, and 3044 on their win. Although I didn't get to see it because our team left after our quarterfinal loss, it was also the last thing I expected.
Also, I would like to say thanks to team 2648 on picking us, as our team didn't expect to make it to eliminations, and to 3930 for some great semifinal matches.
This year was bittersweet, as we didn't win, but we had a great regional. For a team that was rebuilding (2/3 of the members are new), we felt like we did well. We would love to try again in another regional, but that's wasn't the plan for this year (next year maybe!). Hopefully, we can get a place in battlecry!

See yall next year!

Re: 2013 WPI Regional

On behalf of FIRST Team 3623, congratulations to the regional winners; that was a hard fought series - the biggest margin of winning that I've seen that was decided by a single action. Great try by the finalists; again, hard fought, down to the wire series.

To all of the teams that were paired with us on Friday, I am personally extremely disappointed that we were not able to attend on Friday due to the weather keeping several of our key members in their driveways :ahh:. It's an extremely frustrating circumstance, but safety is FIRST.

I look forward to seeing some (if not all) of you at BattleCry, and hopefully next year as well.

In the spirit of more video, here's a video of one of our best qual matches. For those scouting 177: They are normally much better than this, and their climber is actually designed for the corner, not the center as attempted in this video.

I really hope someone recorded the webcast / the entire eliminations. I don't know if I can bring myself to watch Match 3 yet...

I sent our coach a text before that match and told him to pack things up if we did not win that match. When I saw every shot go in during auto it put a big smile on my face. 177's shooter was amazing to watch made a cool sound every shot.

I believe we were planning to upload all of the matches from the event (We were recording them all weekend). Watching finals match 3 is...tough to say the least.
