Where does the Vision Proecssing VI run?

Hey,

A few weeks ago I attended a lecture on Image Processing for FRC, where it was said the Vision Processing VI runs on the Driver Station, and doesn't run on the cRIO, like the other VIs. This surprised me, since I didn't see anything in the project/code structure that suggested this kind of behaviour.

Is that really how the default FRC code works?

Thank you,
Itamar

The Vision Processing VI in the cRIO project runs on the cRIO, as you thought.

The dashboard gets the camera images directly from the camera rather then going through the cRIO (starting last year). It's possible to program the dashboard to do the vision processing and then send the data to the cRIO, but in that case you wouldn't be using the Vision Processing VI on the cRIO.

As a general rule, in the labview project manager, the code executes according to what target it is assigned to. Either the cRIO, or the computer, essentially, if it is under my computer, it runs on a computer, if it is under the cRIO item, it executes on the robot.
