I might have to make a day trip for that. And bring popcorn.

Moved to Cumming, Ga at the beginning of January for a job and have started to work with team 1746 at Forsyth Central High School.

Looking forward to attending my first Peachtree regional!

If that makes you excited, just wait until 1648 reveals our autonomous... ;)

Re: 2013 Peachtree Regional

Greetings,

I talked to a mentor from 3959 at Palmetto last weekend. There is a group trying to start a regional in Huntsville, AL next year.

If I understand the situation correctly they need commitments from a certain number of teams to attend in order to get the regional approved. They have a venue and sponsorship lined up. I figure that a regional in Huntsville could be of interest to teams in Georgia.

3959 can't attend Peachtree this year due to mandatory testing for students. I suggested they send a mentor to Peachtree to talk to teams so keep an eye out if you're interested.

Greg

I too met this mentor and discussed the regional with him. I think they're looking to straddle P'tree in some manner so that the GA teams can attend.

I think there's a nice spot in Week 6 that's nicely void of any South East Events.

We would love another close option.

I've signed up to volunteer as a ref or FTAA. I haven't heard back yet, but I plan on being there.

I know these things are fairly popular. I'll kick it off. Here's hoping we can get some nice pictures.

Okay, we'll play along. Pictured here (I hope) is our 2013 entry, Hugo III. You may recognize the graphics on the side as a satellite view of a certain storm in 1989.

Hugo III features:

6 Wheel Nanotube chassis, 4 CIMs driving 4 of the 4" Hi-Grip wheels
Adjustable angle shooter (0 to 44 degrees) via Acme screws
Single Wheel, 45 degree arc shooter, powered by 2 Mini-CIMs
Full court range
18 point autonomous
Telescoping upper frame provides 2 shooter heights.
10 point hang using shooter deck.

We struggled week 1 at Palmetto with a shooter that was just a little bit off the mark, and unfortunately very consistent. On the plus side, we were able to reinforce the lessons on the difference between accuracy and precision :).
We have worked out a new autonomous routine and feel like we have the shooter accuracy issues handled, so here's hoping for a good showing at Peachtree.

Look forward to seeing everyone there.
