Looking for new team in Toronto

Hi guys, I feel a bit like I'm filling out a job application form but here goes nothing.

So here is the problem I have. I am currently a member of team 854 The Iron Bears and like many of the school based teams in Ontario we are faced with an inability to compete in the 2013 competition. We have tried fighting to stay afloat with our principal and don't believe we will be able to run without the school for this season so I am now looking to join another team. Some of my team-mates may even be willing to follow me if it is convenient for them.

My Name is John and I was the head of machining and design for team 854. I have also participated as human player for our team in the past two years. I have an exceptional amount of experience with Autodesk software (particularly AutoCAD) and ArtCAM. I have had a hand in designing and manufacturing omni wheel and tank drive robots. I am quite experienced with most metal and woodworking machines (although we have never needed my woodworking skills for building robots lol). I also have a great deal of experience with the electrical side of things as I did most all of the wiring for a few of our past robots including a recent side project of mine where I was experimenting with some new omni wheels.

I may potentially be able to bring some of our sponsorships with me, at least for this season. In addition if any of our other members don't have any problem with it I may even be able to access our account and bring the money we have accumulated so far with me. We have extras of pretty much any part you can think of in storage which I may also have access too. (Please remember that we haven't finalized any decisions regarding what will happen to the team in the future and there is a possibility that I may not be able to provide any of these things)

If that little essay sparks any bit of interest then please dont hesitate to contact me by posting in this thread, sending me a private message or sending an email to our team email -> mci.robotics@gmail.com<- (subject "For John" Please) so that we can discuss in greater detail what contribution I can make to your team and whether or not I can participate in my final year.

If any teams within Toronto (especially etobicoke area) are interested in a merge or even possibly just giving us a place where we can work then by all means please contact me regarding that as well.

-John

Re: Looking for new team in Toronto

Thank you to all the teams that responded.

I would like to recognize teams 907, 2935 and 2185 for being so kinda as to offer their assistance as well as team 1514 for their help.

If there are any other teams in the area that would be interested in helping out please feel free to contact me as some members of our team may not be able to participate with any of the teams that have came forward so far due to transportation or scheduling issues.

It is good to hear that there will still be a large amount of teams from Ontario continuing despite the obstacles that now stand in our way.

Keep working on it. Sounds like you are dedicated about continuing with FRC, under whatever circumstance that may be.
