Kit of Parts 2013

Welcome to the 2013 FRC season.

As of today you should be aware of the competition and are probably formulating ideas and designs as I type!

On Monday morning the Autodesk Inventor 2013 Kit of Parts and a model of the competition field will be posted on the Autodesk Education Community web site. I will also post these files in STEP format so that you can use them with previous versions of Autodesk Inventor. You can open STEP files in any CAD software, so if you are using a CAD application that does not provide a kit of parts these parts will save you a lot of time.

All the best for 2013 and have a great 6 weeks designing and building your robot.

My team still uses 2010, is there going to be 2010 files or is there only step?

The new parts for the 2013 FRC robot will be in either 2013 or STEP format. The native 2010 Autodesk Inventor kit of parts is still available on the Autodesk Community, so you can easily search for individual parts. I will be posting a video reviewing the KOP and how to search and download 2013 parts or previous versions.

Thanks Phil for all your help, I know everyone really appreciates it!

I was looking for the STEP version of the field, am I overlooking it on the website?

I used tried measuring the height from the 2nd to 3rd cross member on the pyramid (see attached) and it was shorter than 30 inches per the rules. Can someone else verify? I downloaded the files from the autodesk website, titled Part Description: FRC 2013 field.

Thanks.

Re: Kit of Parts 2013

I will double check the heights and repost tomorrow morning if required. Looking at the rules on page 7 of 11 I see dimensions of 30, 60, 90 and 120 which I will also double-check.

The pyramid model still looks incorrect to me....there is a new vertical section of pipe that is out of place if I'm to believe the FRC field drawings.

The Pro/E version of the field appears to have the correct pyramid geometry.

Actually, does anyone have the entire KOP in .STEP format? Or something Soldiworks can open? The inventor files won't load in Solidworks 2012 and the ProE files throw up an error.

Is there one zip file which will allow us to download ALL of the KOP for 2013. I can't find items like the pneumatic canisters.

Re: Kit of Parts 2013

A rather odd request I know, but is there CAD of the tote/bin thing that the KOP came in?

Re: Kit of Parts 2013

Anyone notice the keyway in the CIM motor is twice as large as it should be?

All the drawings show that it should have a 2mm keyway, but it appears to have a 4mm keyway in all the CAD drawings.
