Also, be sure to uninstall the previous year plugins before installing the new ones. And if at all possible, use the web-based plugin installer as described below since it will automatically notify you of updates that are released.

Re: Process to update Existing JAVA Dev Workstation to 2013

Brad,
Thanks for the feedback.
Our FRC JAVA development notebooks are not allowed to connect to the school network so we don't have any connectivity.

We need to acquire all of the software ahead of time.
In past years we had trouble getting the development environment to work, always needed to download some huge chunk of code.

This year I practiced the full process in a VM ahead of time.
I hope we can have code development working in a few hours and not days/weeks.

If you need to download the plugins ahead of time, go to the directory the screensteps documentation gives you:

http://first.wpi.edu/FRC/java/netbeans/update/Stable/

And download them off the FTP directly

Then go into Netbeans and go to Tools>Plugins>"Downloaded" and click "Add Plugins," and add the downloaded plugins manually.

There is also a zipped file of the plugins on FIRSTForge.wpi.edu in the wpilib project file releases section. Either works.

But, I have a question... the place that people should be going for the plugins is the Release directory from above (replace Stable with Release). I was curious if we missed a spot in the documentation where it says Stable? Can you post the link to that if you can find it?

Thanks
Brad

This is correct, my bad.

IIRC I had the other one bookmarked.
