Interesting that nobody seems to be going for industrial/manufacturing engineering... there's loads of money to be made in that field out in 2nd- and 3rd-world countries where nobody knows how to make an efficient factory.

As for me, I've been accepted to and will be attending Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore MD for who knows what. It will be an adventure! I asked around the Facebook group for fellow FIRSTers attending but the only other person going there who was in FIRST asked me "What's Chief Delphi?"

Sure! If I end up getting accepted I'll most likely join their autonomous underwater robotics team. They are all about outreach too so this could be my giving back. If I get in

The CUAUV (Cornell University Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) team is great; they are pretty much the direct extension of the FIRST ideals on the Cornell campus. We are actually trying to set up a more direct partnership with them - a couple former FIRSTers on the team right now were going to give a vision workshop to Code Red this year but it never ended up getting off the ground.

This list is sorely lacking computer engineering! I've been accepted to University of Maryland, UMBC, and Drexel. I don't know where I'm going yet.

Anyone going to a school with FormulaSAE? I'm planning on doing that at Hartford next year.

I'm hoping to major in MatSci at Columbia University's School of Engineering and Science next fall.

I'm 99% sure they have a Formula SAE team and it sounds like something cool to do. Why do you want to join a SAE team?

Speaking as someone who spent his entire college career in SAE Aero Design (Formula does it all wrong--their wings are supposed to be convex up, not convex down! :p ), it's a lot like an FRC team, but it's a completely different challenge. For example, composites are used a lot in SAE events--not so much in FRC.

The other factor is that it's a great place to apply the stuff you learn in the classroom, sometimes a matter of days after you learn it. And without that application, you might design a perfect X that you later learn is impossible to build because you're running out of bolt tighteners, or something like that.

SAE Collegiate Design Series competitions include Formula SAE, Baja SAE, Supermileage, Clean Snowmobile, and SAE Aero Design. Formula goes fast, Baja handles rough terrain, Supermileage goes far, Clean Snowmobile handles snow without harming the environment, and Aero Design lifts a lot of mass while flying.

Im a huge car nut, and i figured that I'de be getting to combine my love for robotics with my love for cars and do something that involves both.

If you want to stay involved, there is the Baltimore Area Alliance.

UMD is the obvious choice here.

My plans have actually changed slightly since my first post.

I will now be Majoring in Cyber Engineering at Louisiana Tech University!

I'll be going into international business at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. :yikes: I am both excited and depressed about this. I don't want to leave my team, but at the same time I'm looking forward to getting an education.

Most of our team looks to be going some where in the south east for some type of science and many of them have gotten into the air force academy for Cyber Security and Mechanical engineering. We have a girl here going into Bio medical technology, and another going into political science.
