Number of Frisbees Allowed in Autonomous Mode
Going over the rules of the game, we found it hard to understand if the limitation on controlling 4 frisbees is only in the Tele-Op period. Are we only allowed 4 frisbees in the Autonomous as well or can we control more?

Re: Number of Frisbees Allowed in Autonomous Mode
You are allowed to control 4 Frisbee's in auto but you can only start with 2 or 3 depending on where you are located. Below are the two rules that apply.
G06 TEAMS may preload White DISCS in or on the ROBOT before the MATCH. If the ROBOT is in contact with any carpet outside its AUTO ZONE, the ROBOT may preload up to three (3) DISCS. Otherwise, the ROBOT may preload up to two (2) DISCS. G24 ROBOTS may not actively control more than four (4) DISCS at any one time. So my prediction is that top tier teams will be putting in around 7 Frisbee's in auto. |
You can only start with 2 or 3 depending on where you start, put you can pick up a fourth from the ground

Re: Number of Frisbees Allowed in Autonomous Mode
Are you certain that the "ROBOT Actions" rules also apply in the Autonomous Period or are the "AUTO Rules" the only rules relevant to the Autonomous Period?
I ask because one of my mentors says that he saw teams last year collecting more than three balls in the Autonomous before starting to shoot. According to him the limitation on three balls only applied during the Tele-Op and we were wondering if perhaps the limitation this year was also only for the Tele-Op. |

What is worth noting is that, in both games, game pieces scored in autonomous had the potential to be worth than 3 foul points. Last year a ball scored during hybrid was worth 4-6 points. This year a disc scored in autonomous is worth 2, 4, or 6 points depending on the goal it is scored in. Obviously it doesn't make sense to take fouls in order to score additional discs in the low goal, but it may be worth it to suffer the foul to score in the other two goals (if you're confident in your accuracy). |
