Feeder Station Height? / Human Scoring Strategy Talk

Quote:

The ALLIANCE WALLS are 6 ½ ft. high,
I saw THIS rule (section 2.2.1), but I never found anything that said the height of the FEEDER STATIONS. However after looking at it for a while it looks like the Alliance Wall, when you take off the goals above it, is the same height as the feeder station. So by seeing that similarity and the quoted rule, I'm ASSUMING the feeder stations ate also 6 1/2 ft tall?

However that seems really high for people to throw frisbees over at the end of the match. Right now I'm imagining myself jumping and throwing over the wall to try and get a chance to aim the throw, not just chunk it and cross my fingers.

Has anyone else thought about this yet (or found more clarification on the feeder station height)?

I believe you will find your answer in the game-specific field prints on the usfirst.org website.

Look at pages 105 and 109 of the Game Specific Field Drawings package (PDF link).

I wonder if a mini step ladder be permissible? Thoughts? Of course you could always wear those 1' pump shoes too :)

We've had a lot of ultimate players including myself post in other threads about what is the right thing to do for human players. I still hold to my belief that the hammer (a type of overhead ultimate throw) is the best throw for human players.

5.5.8 Special Equipment Rules
T22

The only equipment that may be brought in to the ALLIANCE STATION are as follows:

the OPERATOR CONSOLE,
non-powered signaling devices,
reasonable decorative items,
special clothing and/or equipment required due to a disability
devices used solely for the purpose of planning or tracking strategy provided they meet all of the following conditions:
do not connect or attach to the OPERATOR CONSOLE
do not connect or attach to the FIELD or ARENA
do not connect or attach to another ALLIANCE member
do not communicate with anything or anyone outside of the ARENA.
do not include any form of enabled wireless electronic communication (e.g. radios, walkie-talkies, cell phones, Bluetooth communications, Wi-Fi, etc.)
do not in any way affect the outcome of a MATCH, other than by allowing PLAYERS to plan or track strategy for the purposes of communication of that strategy to other ALLIANCE members.

Based on that rule, you can't bring in a device to help a feeder out with the throwing.

As soon as I get over my cold, I'll make a video about all things Frisbee. Hopefully this answer all the questions on how best a human can score, and general handling of discs.
