Gearbox and CIM problem

We just started to put together the gearbox tonight and found that none of the gears with the KOP gearbox will fit any of the black CIM motors. A NEW gear will slide nicely over last year CIM but this year's is a bit too big. I'm afraid to hammer directly on the CIM shaft. Any suggestions?

BTW, You guys rock. Your info help us through our rookie year.

Definitely follow the suggestions in the other thread if you can, but if you still experience difficulty or don't have arbor presses, mallets, etc., you could run the motor while lightly grasping the shaft with sand paper to slightly reduce the size of the shaft until the pinion can slide on. This definitely isn't the proper way to do things, but it will work as long as the retaining ring can fit firmly over the gear.

I'd like to hear from a few other people who have actually tried this.
