Running Labview FRC in 64 bit
Whenever I try to run Labview in 64 bit it opens labview 8.6 I think instead of Labview 11. When this happens I don't get the FRC tools. Any help? Thanks

Re: Running Labview FRC in 64 bit
Try opening up LabVIEW 2012 directly from the launcher, which should be in your program files. I am running this year's version of FRC LabVIEW on a 64-bit computer and have had no trouble so far.
If your problem is not resolved through this thread, your best option may be to uninstall all versions of LabVIEW on your computer and do a fresh install of LabVIEW 2012. |
Re: Running Labview FRC in 64 bit
The mime typing and extension mapping that determines what app to launch when you double click on a .vi file or a .lvproj file doesn't really work that well with multiple versions of the same program with the same extensions. They tend to remember the last app associated with the app, but I'm sure that the registry gets involved on Windows. If you use Open With ... or open with the Start menu or drag and drop to the app, I think the issue will likely fix itself.

Re: Running Labview FRC in 64 bit
I followed the shortcut locations and ended up finding out all of them go to the x86 install folder so I don't even have a 64 bit version. How do I get it?

Re: Running Labview FRC in 64 bit
It should not matter if the application itself is 32-bit. Every programmer on our team has used the same installation files for a 32-bit version of LabVIEW, and it has been installed on multiple 64-bit computers so far, with no problems.
If Greg McKaskle's solution doesn't work (though I believe it should), I would suggest uninstalling all LabVIEW files and then doing a clean install. |
Re: Running Labview FRC in 64 bit
I ended up going to the NI website to try to get help for another issue and found a 64-bit installer so right now its installing. Thanks guys

Re: Running Labview FRC in 64 bit
So when I installed the 2013 FRC update it did not apply to the 64-Bit LabVIEW. Our team is at a dead stop for coding until I can resolve this

Re: Running Labview FRC in 64 bit
You should not be using the 64 bit edition of LV. Please install the edition from the CD and launch it from the Start menu. I am also running on Win7 64 bit, and I use the 32 bit edition of LV every day.
If you get a dialog when doing that, please post details. Greg McKaskle |
Re: Running Labview FRC in 64 bit
I was hoping to be able to use 64 bit for higher performance and my 32 bit with frc has consistent failures

Re: Running Labview FRC in 64 bit
I'm not sure you'd notice the performance difference. Can you characterize the failures?

Re: Running Labview FRC in 64 bit
I'm not too worried about it anymore since 32-bit is working now
