Plastic Spur Gears

Anyone with a good source for large pitch diameter (4") plastic/nonmetallic spur gears and racks please e-mail me at jcanavan@coe.neu.edu or post to this question

The usual suspects...

I would try McMaster-Carr first, then Stock Drive Products, then finally Berg if you have to (off one reason or another, something always seems to go wrong when I use Berg).

Web sites: McMaster.com, sdp-si.com and wmberg.com

Good luck.

P.S. Be careful, a lot of the stuff that McMaster sells in 14.5 degree pressure angle. This is not a problem but it is not the more common pressure angle of 20 degrees -- gears need to be the same pressure angle in order to mate properly. JJ

Under a heading of "For what its worth"

I some how got on the stock drive mailing list (I suspect I filled out an oline form at thier web site . They sent me several catalogs that have been very instructive on gears, thier uses and why I don't know enough about them.
There is still time, I suspect to order your own set.
http://www.sdp-si.com/
was the site I used.
