Where to start?

I see opportunities in my area to start multiple teams and engage big-name sponsors, but I have no idea where to begin. Ultimately, I would love to start a regional FIRST Organization, but that's definitely a long-term goal. Do I approach the schools first? Do I approach sponsors first? Who do I talk to? Principals, ADs, shop teachers, math teachers? There are just so many schools, and BIG industry in this area, I don't understand why there aren't more teams out here. I want to be the driving force behind getting teams started, and eventually a District competition or two, but I really need help on where to begin.

Start with your regional director. A list of regional directors can be found on the USfirst.org website
