What clutches are legal for FRC use?

I know a thread already exists about electro-magentic clutches http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=110778 and I've asked the question what clutches are legal and where to buy them. I got a response about the dog clutch from AM but I think those are only used in the transmissions. What I was wondering was what clutches I could put onto a shaft and a second shaft, where only one shaft will turn until the clutch is engaged, and then both shafts will turn.

A mechanical clutch is easily machinable to be used in a similar manner as shifter dog gears. You can create a larger dog and use a larger bore piston for desired effect. A couple teams did this in 2010 for kickers.

I'm assuming this is part of your hanger?

your right on the hanger and we would like to purchase one if possible from a manufacture (as stated above).

i don't know of any ones that could do that on the same shaft (could be my inexperience showing) but i know you could use a second shaft and a dog gear to engage or disengage the 2nd shaft

Something like this might work: <http://www.wmberg.com/catalog/catpag...df/B05J002.pdf>.
