Very innovative!
How about putting the bottom latch points as two
on the outside edges, just on either side of the Lexan?
Congratulations, and my apologies for any doubts I had earlier.

I second this. Great Job!

How long is that video? 2 minutes? Hmmm...

The video is two minutes, but they do take short breaks in between. If they just speed up the process a little bit, I could definitely see them being able to both score a few disks and climb to the top during a match.

Amazing job, congrats on being the first to show the world that you can pull off such an incredibly challenging feat.

Great job guys looking foward to seeing you do that now with bumpers on.

Can I ask what difficulties you see with adding bumpers? It looks to me like the mechanism is on top of the bot and this wouldn't be a problem.

As they're lifting with the lexan bit, the lower frame comes very close to the lower rung. I think the concern is that the bumper will catch on the rung, and the robot won't necessarily swing back to clear the bumper. They could solve this with a couple of bars that swing down over the bumpers at the beginning of the match to make the rung ride over the bumpers.

Also, they're going to be a tight fit inside that upper rung with bumpers on. If they don't line up right at the start of the lift, they're going to be stuck with a 20-point lift.

My favorite part of this implementation is the lexan sheet to deliver the hooks up. That's simple and effective. Great work guys!

I see what he was talking about now. It doesn't seem so bad, I think at worst it would slide against the rung and swing the bot back on the hooks a bit, since the frame passes the rung well before the lift is completed. I don't think any special mechanism would be necessary to prevent catching, just being smart about what they put on the front of the robot. Also, it looks like the guy behind the bot is pushing it forward a little, so it's coming closer to the bar than it would by itself.

This is simply amazing!
Congratulations on having A working 30 point climber, and thank you for sharing!

However, seeing an actual robot climbing from the inside, and seeing how little space is left in the top level for other 30pt bots is making me nervous. I guess alliances will just have to compromise and have some bots on the 3rd level and some on the 2nd?

or pick a robot that climbs the outside;)

This may just make our team's season. Our team has been struggling with this exact idea. Many students saw the video and were greatly inspired.

Think you can do it in 12 seconds? We do.

I - and I believe all of us - would love to see that. :yikes:

At the beginning of the season I challenged my students to climb in less than 10 seconds... I hope their design meets that challenge. But even if it doesn't, I know we have a great design.

With any luck, we'll be bolting the electrical board on my this weekend and start doing some real testing!
