Air Tanks?
 

Air tanks are out of stock on AM. Are their any rules regarding other tanks?

I see in the manual:

The only pneumatic system items permitted on 2013 FRC ROBOTS include the items listed below.

Items available in the 2013 KOP,
Pneumatic pressure vent plug valves functionally equivalent to those provided in the KOP,

Parker valves PV609-2 or MV709-2 are recommended.



Solenoid valves with a maximum 1/8 in. NPT port diameter, and a maximum Cv of 0.32,
Solenoid valves that are rated for a maximum working pressure that is less than 125 psi rating mandated above are permitted, however if employed, an additional pressure relief valve must be added to the low pressure side of the main regulator. The additional relief valve must be set to a lower pressure than the maximum pressure rating for the solenoid valve,
Additional pneumatic tubing, with a maximum 0.160 in. inside diameter, functionally equivalent to that provided in the KOP,
Pressure transducers, pressure gauges, and connecting fittings,
Pressure regulators with a maximum bypass pressure of no more than 60 psi,
Pneumatic cylinders,
Pneumatic storage tanks, and
Compressors compliant with R80.

Matthew,
It must meet the minimum requirements for working pressure ratings.

R76
All pneumatic components must be COTS pneumatic devices rated by their manufacturers for working pressure of at least 125psi (with the exception of R78-D).

looks like it's rated for 150 PSI. But, it's 7 pounds...

Andy Mark has stainless steel tanks that we have used in the past (on sale too).

I suspect the plastic tanks are "out of stock" while they sort out the issue with the tank that failed recently.

It is heavier than I would like. Can anyone offer some good alternatives?

An alternative supplier for the plastic air tanks is Pneuaire.

I'd love a bit bigger plastic air tank if someone runs into it. Something more like 1/2 to 1 gallon would be ideal.

Andy took the Clippard tanks off the site due to the incident that occurred over the weekend with a team. Supposedly FIRST is going to be sending something out in an email blast about it to all teams.

The Pneuaire tanks that Justin mentions are your best option. FIRST tested and approved. We have used them the past 2 seasons and plan to use them this season.

Agreed, we replaced our metal Clippard tanks with the 44 cubic inch Pneuaire tanks for IRI last year, and had no issues with them.
