Motorized Car Jack for Lifting

We wanted to share a design we made for lifting (angling) our launcher.

It's a car jack that we combined with a 10:1 VersaPlanetary gearbox and a BAG motor to turn the actual winch.

Here's a video:

We have a car jack idea lined up for a back-up 10pt climb in case our build fails. There's nothing wrong with using the car jack. It is COTS unless you modify it to be powered by the motor.

Dang if you can do that much to a car jack, why not change the angle of the shooter with a lead screw?

We didn't do much to it.

Almost nothing.

In retrospect setting up lead screws would be much more time consuming for us. Plus most lead screws are sensitive to high speed, they need to be run slow; this one seems to work well.
