3D Printer, meet Carbon Fiber. We sure hope you like each other!

Way to much dollars for our pocket.

With that said, it looks real good. Just swap the two top drive wheels and your good to go.

Seven Talons and three spikes :ahh: wow that is a power hungry beast but sure can't be beat.

I dont really see how you are gonna mount bumpers to this...

We were surprised at how inexpensive many carbon fiber components are. Take a look at pricing on carbon fiber tubes, for example.

As far as bumpers go, a couple of the students are designing brackets that will wrap around the wheels - with bumper mounting points incorporated onto those brackets. It won't look exactly like the outer rail on a KOP robot, but it should serve the same function - protecting the wheels and providing support for the bumpers.

This looks really cool, guys. Smart idea to use carbon fiber.

What is the thought behind using something so light and strong? Are you trying to keep it light for climbing? Maybe be incredibly maneuverable, judging by the mechanums, for a great shooter bot?

well on your front end the plastic protrudes from the carbon fiber as well (like 1/2" or so) so technically you'd need offstands for your front and rear bumpers too...

Yes, we are attempting to climb all the way up, so of course the thinking was the lighter the better. We are shooting also.

Those motors look like miniCIMs. Am I mistaken?
