An alternative to the cRIO setup?
The other day, I found myself scouring the internet for a robot control system similar to that of the standard FRC setup. However, I was looking for a significantly less expensive method for a hobby project. It has no need for autonomous. I came across a thing called a "Barracuda WiFi Motor Controller". However, I was unable to find any for sale. So I was left with a few possible ideas, but I'm not sure entirely how to make it work. I am looking for a way to have a WiFi router that I can connect my PC to and control multiple PWM outputs with a controller that I can hook up to my PC. Any ideas?
I know this isn't entirely about FIRST, but I thought somebody might have found a cRIO alternative and wished it was legal. Thanks in advance! |
Arduino is a great microcontroller that can do just about anything you might want to do
You may also need a pwm expansion shield of some sort |

You might be able to find an IFI system somewhere, but VEX is your best option there. For some stuff, an R/C controller might work, but it depends on what exactly you're doing, and those can be expensive too. |
