2084 Robots by the C - Climber

Even though most of the team is snowed in with the driving ban (including me), a few have been able to start assembling our climber.

Spoiler for BigImages:

One of our more colorful mentors described it best:
Quote:

Looks like a nightmare. The severed limb of a Terminator Robot climbing the stairs at night, strangling each innocent inhabitant. Trails of blood and gore !!!!!!!!!!

What planetaries are those, and are they load rated for Cims/Mini-Cims in your setup?

They're Banebot P80s (1:81) and CIMs.

I was hoping someone would do this design. I can't wait to see it climb.

Video

We're a bit worried about breaking the pyramid when we start a new flip.

Absolutely amazing.
We had such an idea in the first few days of the season, to do those somersaults all the way up, but we decided it wasn't possible :P
I'm more then happy to see that you chose to go with this idea, and even more happy that you made it work.

BTW, do you fit to the 54'' cylinder? because this was a major concern i had about a design like this.

It barely fits right when it's about to grab the lowest bar, but is fine after that. The biggest issue we have is putting too much pressure on the lower claw to pull it off (we actually broke some welds on our test pyramid. Hopefully FIRST will have stronger pyramids)

One of the coolest things I've ever seen a FRC robot do!

Please post updates as you continue to refine this system, I'm just excited to see it get even better!

I really have my doubts that that will fit in a 54" cylinder with bumpers on it.

That being said, you robot is awesome!
