2084 Robots by the C - Climber
Even though most of the team is snowed in with the driving ban (including me), a few have been able to start assembling our climber.
Spoiler for BigImages:
One of our more colorful mentors described it best: Quote:

What planetaries are those, and are they load rated for Cims/Mini-Cims in your setup?

I was hoping someone would do this design. I can't wait to see it climb.

We're a bit worried about breaking the pyramid when we start a new flip. |

Wow, just wow, that's amazing.

Re: 2084 Robots by the C - Climber
Absolutely amazing.
We had such an idea in the first few days of the season, to do those somersaults all the way up, but we decided it wasn't possible :P I'm more then happy to see that you chose to go with this idea, and even more happy that you made it work. BTW, do you fit to the 54'' cylinder? because this was a major concern i had about a design like this. |

Re: 2084 Robots by the C - Climber
One of the coolest things I've ever seen a FRC robot do!
Please post updates as you continue to refine this system, I'm just excited to see it get even better! -Mike |

That being said, you robot is awesome! |
Re: 2084 Robots by the C - Climber
We designed it carefully so that it fits in the 54" cylinder until it touches the tower where the 54" cylinder can be in any orientation.

Re: 2084 Robots by the C - Climber
you guys aren't violating G23-1 B. when you intiailly start your climb, are you?
"While in contact with the PYRAMID, a ROBOT B. may not extend any part of itself beyond a vertical plane defined by a perimeter offset from the base of the PYRAMID by 54 in., see Figure 3-5b and Figure 3-5c." ![]() |

Re: 2084 Robots by the C - Climber
It's hard to tell, but is there any anti-backdrive in the gearboxes? It seems like they might backdrive and you could sag down below the 2nd rung after power is cut if you're not folded all the way up.
It's a very cool system, I was really hoping someone would make a flipper climber! |
Re: 2084 Robots by the C - Climber
Tumbleweed!(Our team nickname for the idea) This was a climbing idea I was sad to see go off of our list.
So happy someone did it! And it looks like you guy did it really well. |
