Jaguar running Mini CIM flashes red?
Hello!
We have a Black Jaguar running a Mini CIM motor. When we order it to give 100% power forward, we can see the motor is trying to move, but doesn't. After a few seconds (around 3) the Jaguar stops delivering power, flashes red for a while and then goes back to solid yellow. What can cause this behaviour? When the motor is connected straight to a battery it spins quite fast... Thanks! |
Re: Jaguar running Mini CIM flashes red?
Flashing Red is the jaguar's fault code. If you are pulling to much current this can happen.

Also try to unload the motor (disconnect it from what ever it's driving, your climbing device or what ever it's attached too) and then power it. The Jaguar will probably work fine if the motor is allowed to free spin. If it still faults, make sure you can spin the motor easily by hand. A recent post showed a brand new motor that had it's internals messed up so it would stall. |
Re: Jaguar running Mini CIM flashes red?
Are you using CAN or PWM? If you are using CAN you can query the jaguar to find out how much current is it drawing as well as which fault condition it is.
Also if you use a clamp on amp meter be sure it can measure DC, as most do not. Does the motor hum when the jaguar is sending power? Have you tried swapping out the jaguar? My guess is that something mechanical is binding and making it hard for the motor to spin. |
Re: Jaguar running Mini CIM flashes red?
There was a misunderstanding, it turns out the motor did not move even when connected straight to a battery. It was a mechanic fault that has been fixed. Thank you all!
