Can't wait for this! Also, what is that "mentor robot" you mentioned?

FRC666 The TorMentors is looking for a good practice bot to run against the kids. If you team is intersted give Dave a shout. The first year we did this I believe we used Max's, then the Gaelhawks, and last year it was GUS.

My mistake it was 228 in 2009, 230 in 2010, 230 in 2011, 228 in 2012

So which unfortunate team gets to sacrifice their practice bot for the pleasure of the mentors this year? I am so ready for WIWI this year! Can it be June 8th already?

Team 230's practice bot is getting a make over and will re-emerge as the FRC666 TorMentor machine of doom.

9am - hosting FRC Info session for anyone thinking of starting an FRC team this year.
10am-noon - NEMO (Non-Engineering Mentor Organization) meeting for all adult mentors, focusing on non-technical topics. Come and go as your schedule allows.
Lunchtime - brief District update.

See you there!

Re: 2013 Where is Wolcott Invitational

Do we know if anyone plans on recording the WIWI event quals and elimination matches? I personally would like to be able to rewatch matches after the event to review the event and improve driving skills. I personally would love to see a similar recording to what was done at MSC where there was a camera, I think it may have been a GoPro, on a stick near the center line which covered all of the field. I find this more effective than the FIRST scoreboard/ webcast as you can see more of the action.

So if you or you teams is planning on recording all of the matches let me know! Stand videos aren't that bad too, but my preference is MSC style recording. Additionally, if you record the matches make sure you upload them to YouTube afterward! Let's make this happen! : )

I have a gopro clone we could clip up high if the PTB approve. It has a remote control so we wouldn't have to record the whole day. any one want to try to get this on the program? be reponsible for stop/start of match filming? not sure of battery duration, so maybe a charge during lunch would be needed . i'd process results and post to you tube if we do this.

Hi Bill,

I see no issue with running the GoPro. I don't know if we have anything in house you could attatch it too, but I it's something I'm willing to look into. Maybe we could into set up with it Friday night?

As for everyone else, I'll be posting again soon with a ton of details (Team Contacts you should have recived it all). It's looking like we're going to have an awesome event this weekend!

Re: 2013 Where is Wolcott Invitational

"MSC style" video was created by FRC 2337, The Enginerds.

It's a GoPro mounted on a painter's pole which is supported by an outdoor umbrella stand. Usually it sits behind the scorer's table. It's connected to a laptop with an operator who stops and starts the recording for each match. I'm not sure what software they use but I know it's on a Mac.

Re: 2013 Where is Wolcott Invitational

I have a grippy tripod that could wrap around the upper bar of the center netting support. If we did it on the scoring table side, the remote operator could see the little flashing LED that tells when the camera is taping. I tested the remote and got over a 30 foot range for it. I think the camera would then be operable from the opposite side. The remaining question is will the coverage be wide enough from my proposed position.

I will try to get there Friday evening, but I cannot be certain I can find Wolcott in the dark.

If we are attaching to the actual field itself, I just need to check with the PTB above me to make sure that is okay.
