Re: 2013 Where is Wolcott Invitational
Hey everyone. I'll be coming back to CT for the weekend to volunteer at WIWI as your friendly, neighborhood CSA(for those that don't know, I'm the guy with the neon orange hat that gets to troubleshoot and help fix any and all technical issues regarding your robot and driverstation). Well, since I'm currently living in Rochester, NY at school(RIT, ask me about it!), I don't have anywhere to stay near there. I've been talking with Dave and he hasn't found anyone willing/able to host me.
If you or someone you know lives near there or is going to the event and willing to let me crash on a couch or something, I would be forever grateful! I know I'm cutting it close, but anything and everything is appreciated. Thanks! |

Let's move this conversation to a private message. Edit: We didn't make out, so Fletch is still looking for a pace to stay. Fletch, I'll continue looking though. |

Stopped by for camera testing. Tried several spots atop my long yellow pole and tripod base. Adam and I traipsed around and made some test footage of several places. Camera does not have as wide a coverage as I supposed, so it will have to be farther back than the projection screen on the scoring table side. We tried top center of the bleachers and from one corner. I'll attach a couple of frame grabs so you can see what may happen. Gotta run the camera without LCD screen to have any chance at decent battery life. Recharge via the laptop is sloooooow.
Thank you, Adam. |

Re: 2013 Where is Wolcott Invitational
I would just like to congratulate Team 195 The Cybernights, Team 177 Bobcat Robotics, and Team 2836 Team Beta, on their win today. Together both 177 and 195 were impossible to both defend. Once they were in the safety zone and aligned, we began cycling and 2836 was there to block us.
In Boston we came in last place. After never giving up, we decided to flip the shooter upside down, and make many modifications. At the CT State Championships we came in 29th place, and had a 100% accurate autonomous. We still weren't satisfied! So the changes continued. Today in Wilcott we remained in the top 4 almost the whole day until the last 2 matches where we dropped down to rank 9! As the alliance selections continued we ended up being the 7th seed captain where I was forced to make a choice that my team wasn't prepared to do. 2064 - The one and only 30 point climb that used tape measures! Almost every match you contributed at least 20 points and very often 30. As a team we have worked with for years, it was a pleasure working with a good friend. 1511 - As I began speaking into the microphone, I still had no idea who I was going to choose. When the time came to say the number, I thought back to Boston, and realized a great team still remained, 1511. With their autonomous and 50 point climb, the top of our pyramid was always a point of focus for the audience. With the great match and team analysis you provided, we were able to outscore many alliances. 1099, The DiscoTechs, is proud to have captained the 7th alliance that involved only climbing/dumping and defense. Many huge upsets were made and in the end the 7th alliance played the 1st. |
Re: 2013 Where is Wolcott Invitational
Congrats to 195, 177 and our close friends in Woodbury 2836 for their win at Wolcott this year.
Being the captain of the eighth seeded alliance, we knew that first match was going to be tough and these guys didn't disappoint. Thanks to our alliance partners 230 Gael Hawks and 2067 Apple Pi for their help in bringing our alliance all the way to the final three alliances being underdogs the whole way. With our bit having all of our problems in the eliminations, we needed these teams to step up and they did. Does anyone have a video of Team 237 falling off the pyramid during eliminations and flailing in our back as we moved back and forth in front of the pyramid? We'd like to get a good show of a funny fall off the pyramid. |
Re: 2013 Where is Wolcott Invitational
Team 195 had an awesome time at WiWi this year. Our hat's off to our gracious hosts on an excellently run event!
Team 177 Bobcat Robotics and Team 2836 Team Beta it was a pleasure to finally get to work with both of you and to play in eliminations rounds on the same side of the glass! Yay! Congratulations to all the teams this year. This was a really fun game and I think all CT teams are really showing their strength and ingenuity! I can't wait till we are all working together even more in future years and making us all CONNECTICUT STRONG! |
