Solenoid problems

hi,
our team has almost a day left before we put the robot in a box and ship it out so please answer quick.

we have programmed and wired correctly the 2 double solenoids that we are using, the lights changed from side to side (like their suppose to), and the the pneumatic pistons have pressure in them. But when we push the buttons to go down and up the pistons do not change.

please help
thanx

Re: Solenoid problems

Do the lights on the solenoid breakout board (on the cRio) change along with the ones of the valves?

Re: Solenoid problems

yes, they do change at the same time the valves do.

Re: Solenoid problems

  1. Are the solenoid coils marked as 12v or 24v?
  2. What voltage do you have wired into the Solenoid Breakout - 12v or 24v?
  3. Is the power status light on the Solenoid Breakout bright green?
  4. Does the Solenoid Breakout have 2-pin ports or 3-pin ports?
  5. Are the red wires connected from the solenoid to the outside pin on the Solenoid Breakout, and the black wire connected to the inside pin of the connection?

Re: Solenoid problems

1. they are 24v
2. they are wired 24v
3. yes it is bright green
4. it is two pin ports
5. and yes they are red out side and black inside

Re: Solenoid problems

the solenoid break out is actually 12vs... ops found the problem but how do we fix that?

Someone else just asked that earlier today--use the open slots in the 24V port the cRIO connects to. I believe they're C and NC, can't quite remember which wire goes to which.

Re: Solenoid problems

The PDB datasheet suggests the terminals go +-+-. Best bet is to check with a voltmeter, though.

Thank you for all your help!

Now it is time to put the robot in the box!

What do you mean?
We have two whole hours left.
Enough time for a redesign...:)
