Can we still add this?
We are a rookie team and with crunch time at the end we didnt get to add our hanger for the pyramid to the robot. If these are fabricated can we add these at and before the event? Im not sure on this and was looking for guidence. I though I read somewhere that once there we can have six hours to work on the robot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Can we still add this?
You have a 30 pound withholding allowance.

Re: Can we still add this?
To clarify what the previous poster said:
You can bring to the actual competition 30 lbs at most of fabricated material. This pretty much means anything modified from its off the shelf state. However, COTS (Commercial off the shelf) things such as a motor are not included in the 30 lbs if it is not wired up and attached to your hanger. If you end up being over 30 lbs with the motors or cylinders or anything other COTS part, you can take it off and bring them in as a spare part. The 30 lbs also does not include your bumpers or your battery. You can only add these parts once at the actual event. The extra hour allowance is a special case for teams in michigan and mid-atlantic regions where they have district tournaments and would have less time to work than those at other tournaments (not too clear on this, someone please correct me on this if I am wrong). |
Re: Can we still add this?
The six extra hours is only for FIM and MAR teams. You can use your six hours any time during the week preceding the event, as long as the shortest chunk of time spent on it is 2 hours. Make sure you note on your bag and tag slip when you took the robot out of the bag to work on it.

Re: Can we still add this?
Just to further clarify to the original poster -- What ENeyman was explaining does not apply to your team as you are participating in the Pittsburgh Regional and not the MAR regional. Just make sure to have everything ready to slap on the robot once you get there. Good Luck!

Re: Can we still add this?
Furthering the further clarification (I hope) -
Thursday of the competition, you will open the bag containing the robot in the presence of an official of the competition. They will encourage you to have your robot inspected, but you haven't finished it yet, so you'll bring it back to your pit area for the addition of your withheld mechanisims. When you're done with that, you will wait in line to have your robot inspected in its newfound condition. Once you have an inspected robot, you may begin to engage in practice matches. There may even be a schedule of them. The elapsed time for this sequence will depend upon how smoothly the installation of your upgrade goes. You should think that process through and have all the resources you will need to do it on hand first thing in the morning. HTH - keep asking if unclear about any part of this. The vast majority of CD participants are delighted to be able to help. |
Re: Can we still add this?
The moral of this thread is to have a plan. Most regionals let you deliver & un bag your robot on Wed evening. Take advantage of this so you will be ready to work Thurs morning rather than spending your time getting your robot cleared. Think through what you are going to change. Make sure you have all you need to accomplish that. Your pit crew should know what they are going to do in what order. Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.

Re: Can we still add this?
I have never seen that Wed delivery was required. It makes sense for who ever can do it though. It means you get to sleep late on Thur.
