Re: 30 Point Climb Club

We (2013) made multiple sucessfull 30 point climbs at gte, also trying to make a double 30 point climb with our alliance partner 2994, which was unsuccessfull, but our alliance did get a total of 60 climb points in one match with us getting 30, 2994 getting 20 and 781 getting 10 against, 1114, 2056 and 1325.

Also to note that the robots must be able to overcome the tolerances of the pyrimids (which are not precise) which is the reason we cannot always make our 30 point climb along with other robots because the angle of every corner could be different

This is something that concerns me, guess we'll find out how accommodating our design really is out on the field.

The pyramids atleast at gte were relativlely flimsy, on one of our climbs the pyramid separated and one our hooks disengaged and we almost fell.

Edit: I added a picture of one of our 30 point climbs at gte

I believe one of the officials said that the pyramids are accurate within half an inch. They are also not bolted/welded together.

Re: 30 Point Climb Club

GSR pyramids where very strong. We made our robot to be a very tight fit once up on the 30 point rail. The pyramid bars would separate by about 1", never to a point where it would affect our climb. We would swing on the second bar to a point the crowd thought we would fall off.

In the FIRST competition you have to realize that nothing is within tolerances. You have to make your robot to overcome big tolerances. Everybody I saw that ran up to the first bar to hang could not in the beginning due to the height of the lower bar. But most if not all fixed that problem. So teach the team to adapt to anything that could happen to the field or rules. It will make a better and less stressful time.

Thanks! It was an honor to compete with the Swartdogs. Good luck to. 525 in St. Louis.

Wow after just two weekends of regional/district play, I didn't believe that my sticky note would fill up my computer screen with members of the 30 point climb club. I will have to ask the chief delphi community to help me keep up with the growing number of teams that can climb for30 points. If anyone from Israel has achieved a 30 point climb please let me know.(even though I believe 4338 probably has bylooking at their points). Also please let me know if I leave anyone off the list(sorry to 3196 last week).

Team 2359 made a 30 points climb 6 out of 7 times today. Missed on our first climb when two robots were trying to climb the pyramid at the same time. We made it to the 3rd bar, had the 30 point climb, but robot slipped down after time expired before we could get our roller hooks in place.

I'm told 1023 climbed 30 multiple times. Didn't actually see any of it though; I was working field cuing at the pit admin table.

1023 has climbed 30. The only video we have uploaded is our fall. This: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiHc...e_gdata_player but we have successfully climbed for 30 points afterwards. I will update with the new successful climb video when it is uploaded.
